Thanksgiving is the only holiday we host and I try to make the most out of my one chance to decorate my own celebration. This year I made the vases for the centerpieces and my first prototypes for candlesticks which I’m hoping to produce in brass and silver. What are you doing for the holidays?

i’m busy boxing up restock, though I will be out in the garden today for bulb planting. Here’s a little Barely Cinched video, without this vase we wouldn’t have a vase collection. I made the original 4 years ago, gave one to a client 3 years ago, saw her 2 years ago and she told me how she uses it all the time and I was like ok, maybe the vase idea could work. And here we are. While most of this year has been just letting the garden grow, this is the 5th year of my renovation of our formerly abandoned garden. It can take months to edit together years of updates so I’m starting early.
This shady bed next to the front walkway is hardly the most showy garden but it’s one of my favorites, it taught me a lot about texture, shades of green, working with less flowers due to dry shade conditions. I’ll be putting some bulbs in over the next month or so but I’ve enjoyed seeing how it’s filled in over the last 3 years I’ve given it attention.
