And to all those celebrating your first holiday joined as one, love each other every day like it’s your last. Appreciate the small things they do, cuddle on the couch, wear red lipstick on a random day and kiss your partner on the cheek. Tell them what you love about them, be honest and vulnerable, share your successes AND failures, and be silly. Treat your partner with respect and kindness, and love them for who they genuinely are.

Black + White, the most classic of color schemes. Romantic, timeless, and elegant. This is what K + J wanted for their enchanting winter wedding. It took some tweaking, several meetings and mock-ups, but whipped out their magic gloves and brought these tables to life!

Alright y’all. It happened. I got married. It was a truly magical feat, and a dream come true…but more importantly, how hot is my HUSBAND?!
The biggest THANK-YOU-I-LOVE-YOU goes out to our vendors, who took my crazy ideas and implemented them just as I would have. This is no simple task they killed it. KILLED IT.
We’ve just gotten our photos back and it’s impossible to choose out of this literal treasure trove. To our amazing photographer + friend, .milhouse - THANK YOU. This was everything we wanted and more.

Before and after. Iconic Detroit venue: Saint Andrew’s Hall - famous for “The Shelter” aka the spot where Eminem built the foundation of his career. K + J’s wedding was everything we had hoped for and more, thanks to our all-star team of vendors. We killed it, y’all. ❤️

PSA: Every person is unique, which technically means every wedding is and should be unique. When you’re planning and start to think, “What am I missing? What should I be doing now?”…I challenge you to instead ask yourself what you WANT to do. Ask yourself, your partner, and anyone important to you what YOU want your wedding to be like. There are no rules. Design your wedding to fit your vibe, your beliefs, your favorite things, anything and everything that makes you, you.
It was a true JOY working with M+C because they were immediately able to identify what was important to them and their families and what wasn’t. The paebaek ceremony is one of the most important—and often, most enjoyed by wedding guests—moments of a traditional Korean wedding, emphasizing the importance of family. To include all parts of their lives and history, we hosted both a big Catholic service at a nearby church, followed by this beautiful ceremony performed in the middle of Cocktail Hour so guests could enjoy every moment. They even had a friend emcee the paebaek ceremony so all of their guests could understand the significance of the event. It was so spiritual and meaningful, yet playful and fun at the same time. But most importantly, it was unique to them and they had a blast with all of their peeps.

Let’s talk logistics. Is your venue downtown? Is parking a nightmare? Where are you staying the evening before? Where are you taking photos on the wedding day? Do you have transportation to/from all of these places? So many details go into timeline planning, and it’s essential to pad in extra travel time. You never know when there’ll be a Sailboat Regatta on the Chicago River holding up traffic with the drawbridge UP for 45 minutes at the exact time you’re supposed to be meeting Hair + Makeup in the Bridal Suite! (Yes, that actually happened.) Talk to a professional about realistic timelines, and don’t overbook yourself. Do what works best for YOU and your crew.

Now you see me, now you don’t. We try our hardest to stay in the shadows during these picturesque moments, but there’s always the chance of an occasional appearance. At least you can take solice in the fact that I’ll always be there waiting for you at the end of the aisle. To those who take National Donut Day more seriously than others…💙 K + A have been waiting to celebrate their love for 1,328 DAYS. Meaning they also waited that long to exchange these bomb-ass donuts in the classiest way possible. These two fully embody every circumference of the meaning of love. It was such a privilege to give them this unforgettable memory and to find not only the sweetest clients, but now, friends.💙 In his Supreme Court ruling on marriage equality, Justice Kennedy said, marriage “allows two people to find a life that could not be found alone, for a marriage becomes greater than just the two persons.” Congratulations, K + A again and again, forever and ever 💙

When your bride and florist have the vision, but we’ve got the ex*****on. Floral Hoops are all the rage, but pro-tip: they MUST be secured. Things like wind, uneven surfaces, and in our case, the weight of this floral artwork, cause hoops to be unstable. Reason #25 why we always carry floral wire AND fishing line in the emergency kit: perfectly hidden secure system, even after a flip!

So what if International Women’s Day was yesterday…it should be EVERY DAY. And especially all day on wedding days when the most important women in your life surround you.
They give you life, make sure you grow up safe + healthy, and always offer advice (although sometimes unsolicited). They hold your hand, teach you the way, and take you on adventures. They’ve watched you grow and become the person you are today in hopes that you’ve prepared them enough for the world that awaits.
Whether these women are your mothers + sisters, best friends or co-workers, teachers + mentors…whoever they are, tell them you appreciate them. Most importantly, always remember: who run the world? GIRLS. .
