Emily Izakowitz is a private event planner and venue consultant based in Durham, North Carolina. After working in New York City for ten years, she recently relocated to the Triangle area to start her own company. Emily began her career in restaurants, where she developed her palate for food and wine (Italian whites are her favorite!) She became maitre’d at Union Square Café and the General Manager
of brucie restaurant. In 2013, Emily joined the private events team at City Winery NYC, becoming the program’s Event Director in 2015. While serving as the director of two downtown venues, she began producing weddings and events for friends, family, and increasingly independent clients. She has planned weddings in NYC, upstate New York, Virginia, and California. Most recently, she consulted on the event department’s program development at City Winery Nashville and City Winery Atlanta. After several years of juggling two ventures, she realized that it was time to take her love for working with individual clients and turn it into her own full-time business. As a native of Charlottesville, Virginia, Emily grew up surrounded by the greenery and beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Her events have a naturalistic, clean design style that focuses on sustainability. When she’s not busy planning her next big event, she can be found running around Durham with her dog Levi, hiking, biking and enjoying all that North Carolina has to offer. She is passionate about creating a meaningful and valued experience for all of her clients, and is thrilled to be back down South, home of enlightened hospitality.

I’m looking for a new assistant planner to join my team! This is a fabulous part time job for people who are eager to learn about the logistics of wedding planning. It’s a mix of computer work (vendor logistics, research and design assistance), fun tasks like assembling invitations, welcome bags and day-of items, and on site work at our events, from set up to breakdown!
There’s also the potential to grow into a lead coordinator role over time. It’s fun, and you get to hang out with me, and sometimes travel!

I think I’m long over due for a formal introduction, so here we go! Hi! I’m Emily. It’s hard for me to believe, but I’ve been a wedding planner and coordinator for 10 years this winter. What’s even more incredible is that I’m still 27! (Jk…you do the math🤪)
I started my wedding career in New York City, and I’ve been planning weddings as “Events by Emily” since 2017. I love hanging with my two year old son, my husband and my dog, and any activity involving the outdoors. Oh, and wine, I love wine.
I wanted to address the fact that we have a new pricing structure going into late 2023 and 2024. 🎉We’ve gotten a few comments and it’s true, my team and I are not the least expensive option in the area at this point. But, I believe our level of service and experience is reflected in our new pricing. So, I hope you’ll consider us for your next event, and we’re always happy to talk you through all of the work that goes into planning events! Xo!
