Thanks to Uncover Liverpool for featuring Milap's Head of Programmes & Planning, Pravinder Singh, as their Culture Radar guest this week:

Loved: Shez Raja Music at Future Yard, a fantastic gig and great to present him on his home turf! Secondly, River of Light, another wonderful event by VisitLiverpool.com Culture Liverpool, with Milap working with Murugiah for his installation of ‘Rangoli Mirrored Cosmos’.

Looking forward to: Milap presenting the internationally renowned, multi-Grammy award winning artist, Rakesh Chaurasia, at the wonderful The Tung Auditorium on 16 March. In my eyes he is the world’s best flautist so don’t miss this concert! I'm also looking forward to Liverpool International Jazz Festival in February at the Capstone Theatre and the Darius Brubeck Quartet opening the festival. Milap and LIJF will also come together again to present Rekesh Chauhan and Kousic Sen on 22 February.

Trivia: I had graduated from University of Liverpool with a Law degree, when Milap plucked at my heart strings. Nearly 20 years later, I'm still going strong to make Indian Arts accessible to all in Milap’s 40th Anniversary year! My sisters also happen to be the local and internationally renowned artists, The Singh Twins!

A vigil will be held at St George’s Hall to celebrate the life of drag superstar The Vivienne ❤️

It was announced on Sunday that Drag Race UK winner The Vivienne, whose real name was James Lee Williams, died aged 32.

The shock news prompted an outpouring of tributes from loved ones, colleagues, and fans across the globe.

The vigil will take place at St George’s Hall on Sunday, January 12, at 6.00pm, giving people space to share their grief and memories.

James was a much-loved figure on Liverpool’s LGBTQ+ scene and, after finding fame on the first RuPaul’s Drag Race UK in 2019 as The Vivienne, regularly supported the local community.

Most recently they took time out from a tour with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to join a fundraiser in December for Liverpool LGBTQ+ and HIV charity Sahir, formerly Sahir House.

John Hyland, community partnerships lead at Sahir, is organising the vigil after being in contact with James’ family.

The vigil for The Vivienne will be held on Sunday, January 12 at 6pm at St George’s Hall find out more via

Many council services and venues will be closing for the Christmas break but you'll find emergency contact numbers and useful details in one place (link below in comments). You can also report issues on the website 24/7.

We'll only be posting the odd reminder until Jan and comments won't be monitored, but we do wish you all a very happy and restful Christmas!
