💡The stage is located in Quay Car Park opposite the High Street 💡

💫The event is on Bideford Quay and Mill Street - the Pannier Market is not open for the event this year. 💫

12-2pm Quiet opening - minimal noise from any attractions to allow anyone with sensory sensitivity to enjoy the rides without the noise.

🎄Mill Street Shops are OPEN - visit Mill Street and see amazing array of independent shops and services Bideford has to offer! Mill Street by Candlelight promises to add something magical to your experience, too!
🎄 Facepainting is available in Raphaels Treatment Room on Mill Street - just along from Santas Grotto. The treatment rooms are also a Winter Wonderland photo opportunity for the event - pop along and take some pics!

💫🎄💫 There is a Road Closure in place for Bideford Christmas Light Switch On - the Quay will be closed from the Old Bridge to Bridgeland Street from 10am til 10pm. Bridgeland Street will be closed from 5:30-6:30pm for the Parade. See Diversions below.💫🎄💫

💫🎄💫During Bideford Light Switch On there will be a temporary Taxi Rank outside the Post Office.💫🎄💫

💫🎄💫Buses will run to their normal Sunday timetable tomorrow. The buses will be stopping by the Kingsley Statue instead of on the Quay during the Road Closure (10am-10pm)💫🎄💫

💫🎄💫 Dogs on leads are welcome at the event - please be aware there are some stage effects when the lights are switched on, and the Quay is very busy at this time, if your dog is anxious it may be best to avoid being by the stage at this time. 💫🎄💫

❌💥 🧨 ❌ There is no firework display at this event. There will be some stage effects when the lights are turned on - these are directly by / on the stage, please be aware of this if bringing pets to the event. ❌🧨💥❌

🗑️ Please use the bins provided - there will be wheelie bins around the site by the permanent bins on the Quay🗑️

💫🎶💫 Visit Mill Street and check out the amazing shops the Town has to offer - the street windows will be lit up as part of Mill Street by Candlelight - and the air will be filled with the sound of music as a variety of outstanding musicians are performing on the Street thoughout the afternoon 💫🎶💫

Some information about this years Charity - Little Willows Wish Foundation - who have nominated a family to turn on the lights! Find the Little Willows Wish by the Stage at the event - the charity are running an amazing Raffle so please visit them and buy some tickets if you can to support them and the amazing work they do!

Little Willow's Wish is a registered charity based in North Devon that helps southwest families of critically ill children. The charity was established in October 2017 by family members of Willow Sophia Maddock and became a registered charity in December 2018.

The charitys main objective is creating and delivering supply boxes for families staying away from home while their child receives care in hospital. These boxes are packed full of everyday essentials like food, toiletries, washing powder and much more. These are items many families don't have time to source themselves because they are needed at their child's bedside or simply can't afford them. Little Willow's Wish also offer financial support for families who require additional help with food or fuel expenses through a personal referral system. This is set up to help ease some of the financial strain many families face while staying away from home to be close to their child in hospital.
The Little Willow's Wish team raise the funds for the work they do through various fundraising events they organise throughout the year. The charity's main source of funding relies entirely on the generosity of the general public.

Little Willow's Wish was set up after parents, Sophie and Tyler, sadly lost their daughter Willow. �Willow was born with a rare combination of three heart defects which were operated on when she was just 9 days old at Bristol children's hospital. Unfortunately the operation did not go well and she came out of surgery on life support and in a critical condition. Despite having a second surgery at a later date, she sadly passed away in her parents arms at just three weeks old. Her little heart just couldn't recover.

Well the busy season has well and truly kicked off with our 2023 Christmas concert in Bideford this evening. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
We’re back there tomorrow morning for the annual lease signing ceremony at 10 then down to Mill Street for carols until 12.
After that a couple of sessions at the Children’s Hospice in Fremington in the afternoon for their families, followed on Sunday evening by an appearance at the Bideford lights switch-on. So a busy first weekend!

A national campaign that celebrates small businesses for the important role they play within communities is coming to North Devon on Saturday 2 December.

Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to 'shop local' and support small businesses in their communities. The day itself takes place on the first Saturday in December each year, but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses.
