NEW SONG: Dark Skies
https://dannyschmidt.bandcamp.com/track/dark-skies
Hi Friends. I've just made a home recording of a new song I hope you'll give a listen to. And if you enjoy it, please share it around to your friends. I've made it available for free (or pay what you want) on Bandcamp. It was inspired by the recent opportunity I had to participate in a conference called Dark Skies In Appalachia. Here's a bit of commentary I wrote about the song:
"Dark Skies" is an ode to the night sky, simultaneously so empty and so full, so dark and so luminous, rife with our most existential riddles and our most essential solutions. The darker the sky, the more transparent our window into the cosmos, and the more alluring the invitation to explore further, puzzle harder, and question deeper. And the darker the sky, the brighter the clarity of our mysteries, our investigations, our discoveries, and our epiphanies.
I hope you'll click on the Bandcamp page if, for no other reason, you can see the cover art in all its glory. It's a piece by an astrophotographer named Dave Green from West Virginia, who presented his work at the symposium, and I fell in love with it. He was kind enough to allow me to use one of his pieces to accompany the song, and I can't imagine a more fitting visual work.
I also want to thank my good friend Telisha Williams of the band, Wild Ponies, for adding some beautiful bass to the song. You can't sing about the cosmos without some sonic depth.
Thanks for giving a listen. I hope you enjoy the song. If so, please share it around.
