So often boutonnières are whisked away and pinned onto jackets before they get their moment on the spotlight, so don't forget to take a moment and snap some photos of this beauty!

HISTORY OF THE BOUTONNIÈRE ✨
The word "Boutonniere" derives from the french word "Buttonhole Flower."
In the 16th century, similar to a wedding bouquet, boutonnieres were used to ward off bad luck, evil spirits, to keep bad scents away and believed to protect against diseases.
In the 18th century many wore boutonnieres as fashion statements.
In the 19th Century, boutonnieres became popular with followers of the Romantic Movement, adding fresh color to attire. This was one of the many accessories that a man could add to his clothing to make him stand out.
In the 20th century, after World Wars I and II, the wearing of a flower on the lapel remained popular. Although worn less commonly as time went on, they served as a symbol of good breeding and sophistication.
Today, boutonnieres are still a part of a man’s formal attire, chiefly used on special occasions such as proms or my favorite weddings and ceremonies! ✨
HISTORY OF THE BRIDAL BOUQUET ✨
Ancient Greece and Rome: these first bridal bouquets were made of garlands and flowers. They symbolized fertility, a union built on trust, and were used to celebrate the couple’s new life together.
Middle Ages: Bouquets at this time were packed with pungent herbs. Garlic, spices, and dill were classic choices meant to fend off evil spirits and bad luck.
Victorian Era: bouquets were carefully selected to send secret messages between partners. Floriography, the association of certain flowers and plants with symbolic meanings, became wildly popular during this era.
Today’s Bridal Bouquets: bridal bouquets are whatever you want them to be. Some radiate to specific colors, others carefully choose the flowers that best represent their hopes for the future.

Some pretty blooms for your weekend. 🤍
Throwback to a warmer time and sunshine! But I do love how quiet it gets on the farm during the winter days.
“Water flows free and wild, not aware of any boundaries or rules or traditions. Not bothered about anything gone or left behind, she eagerly rushes to new dimensions in her life knowing the best is yet to come. Learn to be like the soul of water; clean, compassionate, loving yet strong enough to endure anything.” Harshada Pathare

“Within nature lies the cure for humanity.” Anonymous
Flowers have such a strong presence and impact for being so delicate and soft. Like silk and bone china, they teach us how to remain soft and delicate in this world, yet still courageously strong and impactful.
One of the many heartbreaking things about local flower season is that it just keeps getting better, right up until the end. It’s best right before it’s over.
The flowers become more and more beautiful as the growing season goes on, and they’re perhaps the most stunning when they are encased on frost, moments before the sun hits them and they melt into gooey death.
So, I always find myself reaching for late summer/early fall flower photos when I need a breath of fresh air ✨
