Nerd talk:
This mix is an upgrade from my last hybrid DJ mix, where I’m now using a modified Ableton instrument rack called ‘spike’ from the amazing @anothermachines collection, along with various other custom samples and drum racks coming from #Ableton, using the #Push and #Novation Launch Control that is hooked up to the mixers channel 4.
Using a synth to compliment the music is so much fun, increasing the decay and filter cutoff creates some crazy fills and intense builds, or lowering them to mix with the music is awesome too.
Also, very exciting is that I’ve figured out how to use Ableton effects on each individual channel, so I’m able to chose from 4 effects that I route to each channel, and I can control the dry/wet of each effect with the volume sliders on my second Allen and Heath K2 controller. I love Valhalla effects, so there’s 1 reverb, and 3 different delays to choose from.
I’d really love to play a set like this live in Calgary to test the waters, who wants to be the first?

I have to say, i’ve never seen @tylerstadius play until we had him down this past Tuesday for @versionsyyc with @ilovetechnoyyc
He played an incredible 3 hour set, and i was locked in the whole time. He’s inspired me to dig into my vinyl again, hopefully i can still beatmatch lol
A true master of his craft, he went so many places, was very techno heavy with tracky house, tons of acid house and techno - tons of classics and rare tunes, just a great flow from beginning to end.
We will bring him back for a weekend show one of these days.
