ROBIN BIBI
Robin Bibi is one of the UK’s top blues/rock guitarists and having paid his dues working with such names as Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Ben.E.King, The Pretty Things and Helen Shapiro, launched the Robin Bibi Band in 1996. His influences include Peter Green and Stevie Ray Vaughn but these days many young British guitarists would cite Robin himself as an important influence through his teaching, workshops, jam sessions as well as his recordings and live performances. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPD1PcuJjVw
STEVE MORRISON
Steve Morrison has a sound of his own -- plays an unusual electric Fender in a very “acoustic” way and comes up with highly original re-workings of old blues and jazz standards -- as well as finely-crafted numbers of his own. His solo performances can be an electrifying experience but his style works well in ensemble settings too -- trading rifts with other heroes of the UK blues circuit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GhORKibU8o
THE EARL GATER BAND
The Earl Gater Band line up is Mike Earl: Harmonica, Cliff Gater: Guitar & Vocals, Mark Stevens: Keyboards & Vocals, Mike Allin: Bass & Vocals, Jimmy Cullen: Drums. The focus of the band has been and still is to play Chicago style blues with influences ranging from Muddy Waters through to Kim Wilson. The band recently launched a new CD “Tougher than Tough” to rave reviews. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHGfIC3djwE&feature=youtu.be
STIFF JOINTS
Stiff Joints have been a regular feature of the south-west London music scene for over 20 years with their own stylish brand of blues/folk/rock with sparkling originals such as Muse and Pushing Sixty mixed in with inventive takes on Blues and Rock classics from the Dylan, Cash, Dixon songbooks. Current line-up: Brian Coope – vocals, rhythm guitar • Jon Riley – guitars, mandolin, keyboards • Mel Coote – keyboards, saxophone • Mike Allin – bass guitar • Dan Allsopp – drums. http://www.youtube.com/user/stiffjointsmusic?feature=watch
JAMESTOWN
Sheen locals described as a “rocking, stomping covers band” but their versatily sees them lending great sound and energy across a range of genres. Their gigs are about dancing and listening. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=S97V6R643Z8 #! GARRY SMITH
As Garry himself put it a few years ago “Got a Tricone resonator and the Earth shifted on its axis.” Now recognised as one of the UK’s finest slide guitarists -- blues, folk, originals -- they all get the Resophonic treatment.
