Sjoerd Mäts was born in 1987 in Alkmaar. He is a dj who has been active in the Dutch techno scene since 2004. In 2010 Sjoerd Mäts was a proud winner of the dj/producer contest “Experience” broadcast on television. DJ Isis made Sjoerd a winner and he won an internship at Magma The Agency (International Artist Booking Agency & Event Production.) and All is One records (Electronic Music label). When

Sjoerd was almost 16 years old he went to his first big techno party. Since that evening his love for techno music was growing bigger and bigger and became a part of his life. He was 17 years old when a friend of him decided to acquire his own turntabels. At the same time Sjoerd finished secondary school and didn’t knew what to do next. A year of no school and a little bit of work came across. But he had a lot of time to practise with his friend on his turntables, bought vinyl and improved his skills every day. She decided to perform together and “ZeekipDuo” (Daniël Young & Sjoerd Mäts) was a fact. They were also founders of the “Club Toon” events, held in Club Victorie. With love for deep techno music, Sjoerd developed his own sound, Launched his spinning career and gigs came across. The network he needed was growing a lot! He found his way to the dj-booths throughout the Netherlands. Clubs like Studio 80, Stubnitz, Flexbar, Victorie, LIFE 072 came across. During the summer he performed at the leading beachclubs like Whoosah and the Naturel at Scheveningen. When Sjoerd became 20 he bought his Mac-book for the possibility to produce his own music. He followed a Music Production course at the SAE instituut in Amsterdam. He also came in contact with the lovely program “Traktor Scratch”. Purchased it and Sjoerd was hooked from then onwards!
“It is the system allowing me to spin my digital track collection on time-code vinyl. The perfect fusion of analog confidence and feel with the freedom and potential of digital. With a MIDI controller assigned to it, it is great for total control over my sound. When I perform, I’m using it. A great thing to increase my sets! Nowaday Sjoerd is working as a producer and DJ on his solo project as Sjoerd Mäts. Last year he finished a Music Production Study of 3 years with a future of performing, producing and participation in the music industry.
