40 YEARS AGO THIS WEEK!!!!

A lot of people don't know that this was actually a REMAKE!

But forty years ago, in October of 1984, Chaka Khan dropped one of her biggest hits... "I FEEL FOR YOU"... which featured Stevie Wonder playing harmonica.

Reggie Griffin played guitar, bass guitar, keyboards and created the drum programming (essentially the majority of the song) while David Frank (from the System) added some classic Moog keyboards and sequencing. The rap was performed by Melle Mel (a.k.a. Grandmaster Melle Mel of The Furious Five).

The track was produced by Arif Mardin, but Chaka Khan was NOT a fan of the rap being added to the song without her knowledge.

Whatever argument ensued... the song worked and was released, which reignited Chaka Khan's career and took her to all new heights. In 1985 at the 27th Annual Grammy Awards, she won the Grammy for Best R&B Vocal Performance (Female) with her version of "I FEEL FOR YOU"...

Which was actually written by PRINCE!!

Prince had originally written the song early in 1979, along with one other ("I WANNA BE YOUR LOVER") for R&B sensation Patrice Rushen. But she actually rejected both songs, so Prince recorded and released both songs in October of 1979 on his self titled album... PRINCE.

Let's raise a glass to all of these great artists as we celebrate 40 years of Chaka Khan's success with this pretty awesome song that a lot of us remember with love!

★ COMMEMORATE BEFORE YOU CELEBRATE ★

There is an entire generation in this nation... who view Memorial Day Weekend as "THE BEGINNING OF SUMMER" or simply "COOKOUT 3-DAY WEEKEND".

As we start into this annual weekend of traditions and traveling - where many of us will be getting a day off from work. Some might start things earlier on Friday. Children will be out of school on Monday and lots of people will be getting outside all weekend to enjoy the recent green leaves and breaking weather.

But how about we take a look at the REASON for this truly important National Holiday?

Memorial Day Weekend brings so many families together for a much needed tribute to the American way of life... as afforded to us by the brave men and women who put themselves in between your loved ones and those who would wish to see your loved ones perish.

I cannot help but think about the thousands who will never contribute to the lives of their own children, or families, because they have made the SACRIFICE of serving our great Republic.

In honor of the fallen and the broken - I challenge you to one simple task: MAKE TIME with someone important to you... HUG your family... and TRY to make at least one special memory... at least once per day.

In addition to that... NEVER SETTLE to live in a nation that legislates away your God-Given RIGHTS or those that we have been bestowed through our benevolent CREATOR, and our unique and glorious CONSTITUTION!

This is the best way that I can think of for us all to properly pay tribute to the great men and women who have fought to extend our precious FREEDOMS.

Please think of that... the next time that some popular politician, or some mindless follower of big government, exposes their true nature... as one who would hope to repeal the freedoms that generations before us have fought and died to earn.

God Bless our Soldiers. God Bless the Truth Tellers. God Bless your family. And GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA... AND ALL OF ITS HONORABLE MILITARY MEMBERS.

I RARELY WORRY TOO MUCH - AND HERE'S WHY…

Unlike fear, which has a more "pinpointable" source (like a spider on the wall; being cornered by a weapon-wielding group of rioters; or being invited by a loved one to appear on the Maury Povich show), some people tend to worry over some uncertain future or threat -- that something bad MIGHT happen.

Worry is, sadly, an inevitability of life. Bad things are bound to happen, and the natural human reaction is to think about the negative consequences that could potentially arise.

However, worry is rarely productive.

It's something we do over and over again, without much resolution. And for those who worry most... it's typically of the WORST-CASE scenario, causing a deep dread of the future.

With this mindset, there’s always an element of uncertainty, more akin to a foreboding fear of an impending catastrophe.

Some personality types are more linked to worrying than others. Neuroticism seems to be tied to worrying, as is a person with a negative outlook or a general intolerance of uncertainty.

And while EVERYONE worries from time to time, it is possible to worry SO MUCH… that it starts to have a noticeable impact on your daily life.

It all goes back to what I always seem to be saying...

“Whatever we FOCUS on... EXPANDS.”

But even if you are a worrier, you're not doomed -- there are a number of effective strategies that worriers can use to STOP THE CYCLE.

The following are some of the most effective habits and strategies for defeating the anxiety of worry. They are common traits shared by people who aren't bogged down by it:

#1) FOCUS ON THE PRESENT
#2) BE WILLING TO TAKE CHANCES
#3) HAVE A SENSE OF PERSPECTIVE
#4) UNDERSTAND THE ROOT OF YOUR WORRY
#5) DON'T PRETEND IT'S NOT A PROBLEM - BUT DESIGNATE TIME TO DEAL WITHOUT DERAILING YOUR IMMEDIATE PRIORITIES
#6) ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS
#7) PRACTICE MINDFULNESS WITH YOUR OWN EMOTIONS
#8) HAVE CONFIDENCE THAT YOU CAN HANDLE WHATEVER COMES YOUR WAY
