🌍
After 33 incredible years of spinning records, tearing up dance floors, and bringing joy to countless faces, the time has come for me to take a bow. I, Jamari Warren, better known to many as Banky Hype, am officially announcing my retirement from the Dancehall life as of December 31, 2024.
From a young Jamaican kid in South Orange, New Jersey, who fell in love with music at the age of 13, to a DJ who has traveled the world, entertained thousands, and made lifelong memories, it’s been an unforgettable ride. I’ve had the privilege of playing for audiences from basements to the biggest dancehall and reggae stages. I’ve met amazing people, formed incredible friendships, and shared my love of music with so many. I am immensely proud of what I’ve accomplished and grateful to everyone who has been a part of my journey.
But every journey has an end, and I am ready to embrace this next chapter. While the late nights and the big stage shows may not be for me anymore, the music will always remain in my heart. You might still catch me djing at a private event wedding or a birthday party for , but as of December 31, I will be stepping back from the dancehall arena.
So be sure to catch me at some of my last performances because I promise you—they will be epic!
To my mother, Sonia Warren—you gave birth to one of the baddest DJs ever to stand up in a dancehall arena. Thank you for your support and belief in me from day one. To my family, friends, fans, and every single person who has been there along the way—thank you for making this journey so special.
Reggae music, dancehall culture—I will forever love and adore you. You shaped me into who I am today, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
Here’s to the memories, the music, and to a future filled with peace and happiness.
Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
