Greetings! This week marks the 8th anniversary for JAYS2GO!
In 2016, after 30+ years in the restaurant business, Jay Solomon started JAYS2GO Dinner Delivery as a side gig. (And for a change from a lifetime in "brick-and-mortar").

Little did Jay know that when the pandemic hit, demand for fully prepared meal deliveries would explode. With a website up-and-running (www.jays2go.com), built by his then 9th-grade son Noah, JAYS2GO quickly met the challenge, preparing and delivering thousands of dinners to appreciative households throughout Denver. During that intense and difficult time, Jay considered himself an essential worker—despite his wife Emily’s initial skepticism. And on delivery days, he would often say "his heart grew four sizes that day."

Anyways, we've all come a long way since then, haven't we? But one thing hasn't changed: every week JAYS2GO posts a new, seasonally-inspired menu online, and on Wednesday we deliver delicious meals — and happiness — to the doors of busy Denverites.

First, an update: I underwent an ablation procedure on June 13 at UCHealth, and so far, so good! This past year I have been humbled by the outpouring of support and concern and I have read and appreciated every email, note, and text.

Years ago when I started my first restaurant in a small New York town (Ithaca), I rarely ventured out of the kitchen. If customers asked to meet the chef, I often demurred. Standing with my arms folded across my chest, I'd tell the server, "No thanks. My food speaks for itself"! (It didn't help that my chef's coat was often splattered with sauce).

Things changed twenty-five years ago when my wife (Emily) and I moved to Denver. Walking around Wash Park, people (strangers!) would say "Hi" or smile and nod their heads. By the time I opened my first cafe in downtown Denver, I began to greet customers and hear about their day - and share about mine. Many came for the food and stayed for the conversation.

Fast-forward to the pandemic era, and my bond with JAYS2GO customers grew exponentially. Week after week, we prepared and delivered wholesome and delicious meals and customers showered us with appreciation."We are all in this together" was our common refrain.

So here we are, eight years after starting (on a lark) a revolutionary dinner delivery service, almost thirty-five years after my first venture, and we're still standing, growing, learning, and fired up! Thank you for your patience and encouragement. I look forward to getting back into the kitchen -- and serving you after the July 4th holiday.

With spring in the air and winter in the rearview mirror, we’re taking a short break this week. Our next dinner delivery will arrive on Wednesday, APRIL 3. (The new menu will be posted soon).

In other news, it’s been four months since my spinal surgery, and seven months since I suffered a mini-stroke (caused by atrial fibrillation, an irregular heartbeat). With Afib, when your brain wants to take a stroll in the park, your heart wants to train for a marathon. The good news is that my Afib is under control. Regarding spinal decompression surgery, that was a 7 1/2 hour (but successful!) operation followed by a grueling eight weeks of recovery.

On one hand, I’ve been to hell and back. On the other hand, I received outstanding medical care at UCH and today my body and overall health are much better. Through it all, I have been humbled by the outpouring of support and encouragement from so many fellow Coloradoans, customers, friends, and especially my wife Emily and our family. Sure, I take each day at a time, but I look forward to serving JAYS2GO customers in April, and beyond!
