It rained from morning to night on Amelia and Eli’s wedding day. Relentlessly. We all felt the stress of it in the moment…trying to keep everyone dry, changing the ceremony site, figuring how and when to take portraits. Amelia and Eli (and their families!) were brave, resilient, kind, and graceful throughout…and I look back at these portraits and I see love all over them. The rain made for unforgettable, love-filled wedding day…and for the most amazing portraits on the little pier!

Carrigan + Drake at Newfields, where the gardens and paths were in full glory. The whole shoot was an abundance of beauty…it was the kind of the shoot and they were the kind of souls that left me glowing with wisps of happiness on my drive back to Bloomington.

Maggie + Alex had a full day of wedding goodness. The morning began with a vibrant Vietnamese ceremony. Hours later, we were in the Statehouse for portraits, one of my favorite Indy gems. The night ended in the rather grand Artsgarden. Just wait…so much loveliness to share. ❤️

This was one of the most memorable family shoots I’ve done. A beloved family that I’ve photographed several times on their family farm. Rolling hills and their horses on a golden evening. Pure magic. Molly + JR. Where to begin?! Their wedding took place at one of my favorite Bloomington venues, . And thanks to some friends in high places, we frolicked across the football stadium and floor of Assembly Hall. Police cars joined us at Sample Gates (JR was a Btown cop before moving to NYC). Molly wore a cape-like veil that was a dream and changed into a white party dress during the reception. So many moments and photographs and feelings. ❤️

These two dodged raindrops and spring storms and had a fabulous,beautifully thoughtful wedding at the Switchyard Pavilion. They returned to Bloomington for their wedding and incorporated so many of their favorite people, places, and foods into their wedding day.

Evan & Sydney! At one of my favorite Indy venues, . It was a cozy, rainy, fall day, full of so much goodness. The rains ended just is time to make some outdoor portrait magic happen, and the night ended with a private last dance on the pavilion (see the last pic!)

Our Story

Hello! We are Frank & Sarah, the photographers behind Wandering Heart Photography. We launched our photography business 10 years ago and love what we do....photographing the best day of couple's lives and telling this chapter of their love story with our cameras. Photography is a powerful medium of storytelling. Storytelling is what motivates us, moves, and captivates us. We want to give our couples a collection of cherished, heirloom photographs that embody their story, that tug at the heart strings, and that rekindle memories, emotions, and feelings.
