Some very special people are crossing the border for our next dinner. GFSC 28 will feature seafood magicians from Philly’s famous . Executive Chef Joe Campoli has been in the culinary world for 15 years, working the past 10 at Oyster House, a Philadelphia institution where the 31 year-old leads the kitchen as Executive Chef. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Campoli’s resume includes time spent at the historic Churchville Inn, as well as at Gallo’s Seafood. With a strong passion for food and a serious focus on seafood (despite a lobster allergy!), Campoli worked his way up through the ranks, starting as a grill cook and eventually becoming an executive chef at 27 years of age. With the experience and knowledge gained from his time at Oyster House, Campoli has future aspirations of opening his own restaurant one day.

Operated by third-generation restaurateur Sam Mink, Oyster House opened at 1516 Sansom
Street in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse neighborhood in 1976. Today, Sam and his Oyster House
team craft a daily menu that highlights the freshest East Coast fish and shellfish, while serving
the all the classics, including their critically-acclaimed lobster roll. The restaurant offers
exceptional wines, sophisticated cocktails, local craft beers, and Philadelphia’s most extensive
selection of gin.

GFSC 27 was about creativity to the core. The not-for-profit we selected for this event was Monmouth Arts. If you don’t know them, you should. And if you don’t currently support them, you MUST. The free creative arts programming they provide is essential to the health and well being of children through seniors in our local community. Thank you, Teresa, for speaking on behalf of and sharing more about the 50+ years of history MA has here in Red Bank and its ongoing mission to serve in creative ways.
And if Danny Clinch isn’t a house-hold name in all of NJ by now, he should be!! We were thrilled beyond to host part of our event in the pop-up “Transparent by the Tracks” gallery inside 200 Monmouth. Danny, Maria, Tina and Courtney - thank you for bringing some of your magic from Asbury to the Westside! (and Glenn, you’re the man. )

Honored to highlight Monmouth Arts at our upcoming GFSC 27 this Saturday! May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and Monmouth Arts brought several of their programs to the Monmouth County community to help combat feelings of isolation, loneliness, and grief. These 3 artistic pieces were created by attendees in one of the programs below.
🎨
The Creative Aging program for senior citizens is a visual arts program designed to allow seniors time to explore art-making techniques while also making space for thinking about – or letting go of – the types of emotions we all deal with: stress, grief, anxiousness, worry.
🎨
The Creative Expressions Arts and Wellness Program with HABcore residents in Red Bank and Asbury Park marks a new chapter of community engagement for their organization. Monmouth Arts has created a supportive environment for HABcore residents to unleash their creative potential while also acknowledging any emotions that may arise during the visual arts activities.
🎨
The Creative Expressions program was designed for youth struggling with anxiety and depression caused by the pandemic. They have reached over 2,000 students in the past two years and expanded the program to more organizations. This program was the inspiration for expanding the program to HABcore residents and seniors.

IMPORTANT UPDATE!! For those of you that received our email this morning about upcoming GFSC 27, I need to apologize. It was brought to my attention that alas, my knowledge of French is TERRIBLE (translation: Mon français est épouvantable.) Chef B.J. Brown was NOT the sioux chef at Mumford Culinary Center but was, in fact, the SOUS chef. I am horrified beyond belief that such a misspelling occurred, and more so because my sweet father called from Atlanta to point it out. Thank you, Dad, and my apologies Chef B.J.
ps. GFSC 27 is still on, despite my awful editing skills. Tickets go on sale NEXT MONDAY 5/13 so sign up soon for our upcoming email. It’s the only link to tickets.

Are you ready for this?? These gorgeous dishes were created by Chef Arielle Brown, our surprise guest chef for upcoming GFSC #26 💚 Ticket sale date will be announced tomorrow, but please check out Arielle’s stellar bio below:
Arielle Brown has worked in the culinary industry for the past 12 years holding titles of Executive Chef, Banquet Chef, and Pastry Chef. She has spent the majority of her career on the Jersey Shore and has worked for well known chefs such as David Burke and James Beard nominee Robbie Felice. Chef Arielle’s style of cooking focuses on using local and seasonal ingredients and is heavily influenced by the many types of cuisines and techniques she’s learned while working in French, Japanese, and Spanish kitchens. Keep a look out for her upcoming Food Network debut later this year after she competed on two shows this past fall.  She is currently the Executive Pastry Chef at il Nido restaurant in Marlboro who’s focus is using organic, seasonal, and sustainably sourced ingredients.

This is me. 6 years ago almost to the day, we hosted our 12th Good Folk Supper Club and I had just been diagnosed with breast cancer. In fact, I had received my first treatment a week before this dinner. Looking back, it’s seems bananas that I would push myself to pull this off, but I remember feeling I had so much to prove: to myself, to my family, to my friends that I was going to be ok and would get through it. That the party would continue. I bring this all up now because our upcoming 26th supper club will be benefitting The Beauty Foundation - an NJ based non-profit whose mission is to empower families fighting cancer. This foundation was selected by the owner of our secret dinner space because of her passion for and commitment to them, without even knowing I had been through a cancer “adventure” myself. So yes, this dinner feels personal. And special. And hopeful. And I can’t wait to celebrate with 40 of you lucky ducks on Friday, March 3rd💗
Stay tuned for our chef announcement AND the date of ticket sales!
