Those who know me, know I love to gather small groups together who want to deepen their understanding of God and/or begin their own journey of faith.
I'm excited to start a new 6-week class.
The Explorer's New Testament Study begins tomorrow, January 23rd, at 6:30 in the Upper Room at Wright UCC, the Small Church with a Big Heart, and openly welcoming to LGBTQ+. Our address is 4821 W. Franklin Rd., Boise, 83705.
In this six-week class, learn about Jesus as a man, as a Jewish rabbi, and as the Christ of the Christian faith. Explore first-century Nazareth, what ancient letter-writing practices can tell us about Paul's letters, and the wild apocalypse of Revelation.
This class is based on 4 principles:
1) The Bible is a book that can be read and enjoyed by individuals both inside and outside the church.
2) Understanding of the Bible is enhanced and deepened in conversation with others.
3) The tools of scholarship are not incompatible with a faithful reading of Scripture.
4) Diversity of opinion is both a welcome and a necessary part of learning--especially in faith development.
I encourage you to come try it out tomorrow night.
