We’d like your 2025 to be full of the freshest flowers. Here are 5 top tips we think you need to know:

1. Use a clean vase: This is important because any lingering bacteria will cause your flowers to wilt faster.

2. Utilise our flower food: We provide two sachets of flower food in each delivery. The first to be used on day one when you receive your flowers, and the other to be used on day four, or whenever you think the vase water needs a refresh. Our flower food helps keep the vase water’s pH level balanced, it prevents bacteria growth and also provides your flowers with the nutrients they need to bloom for longer.

3. Remove excess foliage: It’s good practice to remove any foliage that sits beneath the waterline. Leaves sitting in water will rot and create bacteria, making your beautiful arrangement pass its best quicker.

4. Trim the stems: Trim your stems at a 45 degree angle. Cutting at this angle increases the surface area allowing each stem to absorb more water. Take at least 2-3cm off the end of each stem every time you replace the vase water.

5. Display your flowers appropriately: Flowers are sensitive to temperature and sunlight or draughts can cause your flowers to wilt prematurely. Choose a place to display them out of direct sunlight and away from radiators or windowsills.

Happy National Peony Day! We’ve loved seeing your beautiful peony deliveries over the past few weeks, and uniting over our passion for this stunning flower. If you haven’t already, treat yourself to a bouquet of peonies and enjoy their transformation from tight bud to giant, fluffy flowers that you can barely fit in the palm of your hand. We know how much joy a beautiful bouquet of peonies brings, so here's our top tips to keep them fresher for longer...
1. Cut the stems - trim your stems 3-5cm at a 45-degree angle. This removes dry ends and makes it easier for your peonies to absorb water.
2. Remove excess foliage - remove any foliage that will sit below the waterline of your vase. Removing these leaves helps reduce bacteria build up.
3. Use a clean vase - make sure your vase is sparkling clean before filling it with lukewarm water. Ensuring your vase is free from dirt or dust means only fresh water will be absorbed by them.
4. Cover them for a little while - Cover your peonies in the cellophane/paper they arrived in. This allows naturally emitted ethylene gas to stimulate the flowers and encourage them to open.
5. Give them a massage - Stimulate the petals by giving the flowers a gentle massage at the base.
6. While peonies enjoy a naturally sunny environment, it’s important to keep them out of direct sunlight so they don’t wilt. Display away from draughts and fruit – fresh fruit emits a chemical that can cause your peonies to age quicker.
