Throwin it back to horizontal posts. Remember those?

Rina & Huy came all the way down from Calgary and man am I glad they chose me for their engagement portraits. We had a blast exploring the little nooks and crannies of Heritage Square and kicking up some dust over at Papago Park. Telling ghost stories in the back of their convertible as we waited for the sun to set — my type of people 👻 Thanks you two, for everything, and I mean it when I say come back to Phoenix so we can hang again!

Super stoked to announce Jennifer and Kyle’s wedding at Historic Sahuaro Ranch Park in Glendale AZ is now up on my journal! Head to the link in my bio and click “journal” to check it out.

I’ve been so bad about getting new work on my journal but I’m going to be adding some other weddings and elopements to my journal here in the following weeks. Yay for new things!

A few favorites from Jennifer & Kyle’s intimate wedding at Historic Sahuaro Ranch Park in Glendale, AZ. Jennifer is a connoisseur of all things vintage and put so much thought into every detail of her day. Her thoughtfulness combined with the venue and overcast day effortlessly imbued nostalgia into each photograph. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy looking back on it 🧸🤍

Some memories of Jessica on her wedding day. I just delivered their full gallery a few weeks back and it always comes with a combo of happiness to have completed it and melancholy that it’s over. I guess that’s why sharing these shots with you all on the big ol web is so nice, it’s a chance to look back and remember. x

Jennifer and Kyle at their intimate wedding last weekend at Historic Sahuaro Ranch Park.

It’s always extra special to photograph a couple who is also creative, because it becomes this big collaboration that is so much greater than anything I could ever do on my own. As a photographer, it’s always my goal to create a space where the two of you can let your personalities and connection shine through in your own natural way, and Jenn and Kyle did it so effortlessly that it barely felt like any work at all!

This day felt so much more like hanging with friends and happening to have a camera on me than anything remotely akin to work. It’s one of those days that leaves me feeling extra grateful to call this my job! Thanks for feeding me lots and lots of German food, and here’s to hopefully playing a round of DnD here soon 🤍

One of my absolute favorite things about being a wedding photographer isn’t what happens the day we spend together, but watching what transpires in the years afterwards. Meghan & Nico, it’s been such a joy watching your love blossom into a beautiful, happy family. Happy anniversary, and cheers to your love! xx

Happy anniversary to these and to the best tequila shot limbo line I’ve ever witnessed. Cheers to one year! 🍾

Okay y’all, I think Karissa & Tyler discovered the secret. Instead of having their couples portraits and wedding the same day, they had their beautiful wedding in Asheville, North Carolina on a Saturday, and then we trekked out into the Appalachians for a moody sunset shoot on Sunday.

I love this approach because it gave them an intentional wedding day with their friends and family, while simultaneously having that meaningful, intimate time together to document their unbridled love. Long story short, you can have your cake and you can eat it too. 🍰

Hey friends! ✌️

It’s been awhile since I’ve introduced myself on here, so I thought I’d say hi. I’m Savanna, fine art documentary photographer and filmmaker of elopements and intimate weddings. I’m based in Phoenix, Arizona in Roosevelt Row, my favorite part of downtown. I’ve been lucky enough to live in different places like Fort Wayne, Indiana (I’m a hoosier at heart!), all over Los Angeles and Redondo Beach, and most recently Joshua Tree CA, but I’m even luckier to get to travel all over the world to capture couples in love. I’ve got two stinky cats named Oliver and Wolf and a bearded dragon named Malcolm (Dr. Ian Malcolm for my fellow Jurassic Park fans).

I found wedding photography when I least expected it. In a past life I was pursuing a career as an industrial metal/electronica musician under the pseudonym "Aela" (yes, I really wanted to be a rock star). However, I found myself helping a former partner with their wedding photography business, only to fall completely in love with it. Every facet of it interested me: from operational side to the art of being a fly on the wall during some of the most intense and powerful moments of people's lives. Being an artist and entrepreneur at heart, I was enamored by the process of building a business while simultaneously honing in on a new art form, but I quickly realized my favorite part was getting to work with amazing couples and documenting their love.

I believe that each couples’ connection is unique and deserves to be captured that way. You’ve found each other, despite the odds, and you deserve to have your story immortalized in its truest form through photography and film. That way, when you look back in 10, 20, even 50 years, you’ll remember it exactly as you lived it. My work is an intersection of editorial, documentary and adventure/landscape photography — I try to create something timeless that tells your story through an objective lens.

I’m endlessly grateful to call this weird, awesome job my “job” and can’t wait to embark on this journey with you.

a little about us

We’re Mitch and Savanna — couples, elopement & wedding photographers and videographers of the unconventional and adventurous kind. We travel all over the world, but we call the sleepy town of Fort Wayne, Indiana our home. We’re parents to a noisy house goblin (cat) named Eloise and a tiny dinosaur (bearded dragon) named Malcolm.

We fell in love creating things together, so it only feels right that what we do for a living is creating things in the name of love. Nothing gives us more joy than capturing someone else’s story and creating something timeless out of it; something tangible that you can frame on your wall and show your children, and maybe even their children. To get to do this for you is an honor and a gift for us, and we can’t wait to document your story with you.
