Introducing the NEW Oceans Legacy BACKLINE surf series! It’s been a long time coming and can’t wait to give it the Ocean OutKast treatment. This season I will be doing a lot more LandBased fishing to really test out the backline surf rod on some NZ snapper.

Finally a REAL Hapuka on SPJ. It’s been quite the challenge targeting hapuka on SPJ jigs, but today the hard work has finally paid off and what a true experience it was.

I think I’m starting to like this whole SLJ “Super Light Jigging” stuff.

This 17kg kingi decided to hit the Oceans Legacy contact mini 90gram red and gold jig with a battle I will never forget on PE2 gear! WOW did the Stella scream!!!

Big thanks to Peter Carras for inviting me out on his 1850 fisher! It really is a weapon!

Catching squid on SPJ jigs are becoming more frequent for me. I just couldn’t resist putting it down as livebait, sure enough snapper also couldn’t resist a fresh squid! This is another reason I love to SPJ, it is clear that it catches multiple species.

this is jimmy’s first time exploring with SPJ, with a few hick-ups here and there he is sure to learn more going forward. He did mange to effectively catch some nice fish on SPJ.

I’ve caught Arrow Squid on jigs before, however this is a new Squid specie I’ve never caught before whilst SPJ’N on the south coast!

My research tells me it’s a Southern Reef Squid. Can someone correct me? None the less another surprise catch and caught on the 400g Oceans Legacy Deep Contact in 100m

What a weekend it’s been! Despite the hard going elements we’re facing here in Wellington, we still managed to catch some excellent fish even tho the elements didn’t look promising. But it all comes at a cost and Photos only tell you the surface of what it takes to catch fish… maybe that’s a story for another day.

All in all, good day on the jigs!

This season I want to capture all my LandBased livebait missions for all of you to watch it unfold. I will try capture all. The series will be called “GREENHORN VS GREENBACK” 2021-2022 FULL VERSION of the first mission will be uploaded to my YouTube channel. So look out for that. I’m thinking of inviting people who haven’t yet caught a greenback (kingfish) to see who will win. This is just a thought at this stage. However either way, I will film it all for you guys and girls.
