Don’t mail your invitations in December! It’s the busiest time of the year for mail and your very important invitation will very likely get lost in the shuffle of holiday cards, catalogs, and packages. Mail your invitations in November or January to make sure they get the attention they deserve. This does not apply to cute holiday-themed save the dates. Go ahead and mail those in December.

The holiday season is upon us and if you're hosting, it's time to start thinking about how you can elevate your table this year. Personalized place cards are a nice touch that everyone loves. I can tell you from personal experience, you won't be able to use them year after year because they all walk off with the namesakes who sat there because everyone loves something engraved with their name. So, I just have to keep making new ones. 🙃

It's Happy Hour! I teamed up with a new artist for custom watercolor graphics. This cocktail, a French 75, was recently featured on a bar menu for a wedding at the Enoch Pratt Free Library and was given an appropriate literary name, 'Adventures of Huckleberry Gin'.

It's finally starting to feel like fall out there and I'm here for it! This past weekend I helped at a wedding at the Fairmont Horticulture Center and I absolutely loved all the fall colors incorporated into the florals. I snapped some pictures and told myself, this needs to be a color scheme.

Nicole and Josh had a super quick ceremony on the beach followed by an evening of Dinner and Dancing at the to celebrate. In lieu of programs, I worked with Nicole to design this infographic to print on the backside of their dinner menu. Get the most out of every dollar by multi--tasking your paper goods.

Peek-a-boo! I see you over there endlessly, scrolling Instagram and Pinterest on the hunt for the perfect invitation, but it simply doesn't exist. Your Pinterest board might be chock full of ideas, but it's not quite right or it's lacking that WOW factor. You're debating - should I keep swiping or settle because it's "just a piece of paper."

And then you scrolled by me.

I spend a lot of time trying to explain this one to clients. Mrs. is a pretty out-dated title, so if you are going to use it, please use it correctly. If you'd like to take a modern approach to addressing your guests scrap the titles all together. I have clients send me 'Mr. John and Mrs. Jane Smith' or 'Mrs. Jane Smith' all the time.

How to write it correctly:
✨ Ms. Jane Smith
✨ Jane Smith
✨ Mr. and Mrs. John Smith
✨ Jane and John Smith*

*Ladies first! A woman should always be listed before the man.

Let's talk finishing touches, shall we?

You've spent more money then you'd care to admit on this celebration but when it comes down to the menus..probably the least expensive item in the budget you say - ehh, who cares? I'll just use whatever they caterer gives me.

Well friends, this is a prime example of you get what you pay for. The 'not this' menu was spotted by a planner I frequently work with and it was included in the catering package. The person who designed this, and I use the word design lightly, simply didn't care. They whipped it up and spit it out without a second thought.

They spelled rehearsal incorrectly
They spelled potatoes incorrectly, twice
The spacing is straight up cringe
Sometimes they used 'and', other times they used '&'
Wording is redundant for the main entrees.
Headings are inconsistent
Don't get me started on the weird pink color.

The menu is a statement piece that makes or breaks your table scape. Don't skimp out on this finishing touch, it shows when you do.

After a long hiatus, I'm dipping my toe back into the custom design pool. It's been inspiring to break away from my templated designs and start with a blank canvas. The biggest change since 2015 when I took a step back is the switch to virtual meetings. I've stumbled my way through the first few. I wasn't sure how to recreate the experience of flipping through a book of sample, like we did when we met in person. My big project this month was figuring that out. I've put together a beautiful presentation to use during our consultation - you're going to love it!
