10 years ago someone who believed in me gave me a camera. The rest is history!
When I was growing up, I always loved art. All of it: painting, music, drawing...if it was artistic I was all up in the middle of it. I also realized that I had the attention span of a mosquito and ended up having a million unfinished paintings and drawings stacked up in the corner of my bedroom. That’s when my art teacher (who probably just wanted me to finish something) told me to pick up the camera and see what I could do.
Love at first sight. Period.
From then on I knew this is what I was meant to do. Somehow and someway. Whether it was just a release and a hobby, or if it would be a way to pay for college, I didn’t know but I knew I wanted a camera in my hand.
Fast forward to college. I met an amazing family who owned their own photography business and for whatever reason chose to believe in me, invest in me, and love me by inviting me into their world. While getting my “back up degree,” I learned everything I needed to know. The ins and outs of photography and how to run a business. I wouldn’t trade those 5 years for anything! Truly some of the best years of my life!
Eventually, I met my husband (at a wedding I was helping to photograph...I know, I know...) and we got married and moved to the Memphis Area and I knew I couldn’t commute over an hour to continue working with my friend in Oxford, so I took the leap and it was the best and most rewarding leap I’ve ever taken!
Now, years, 2 kids, and studio later, here we are and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be invited into so many wonderful lives of some of the most amazing people I’ve been able to photograph. It truly is my joy and I hope that I can continue to do what I love every day and call it “work.”
