To Wedding Party or Not?

A tradition as timeless as lace veils and diamond rings. But let’s face it, modern couples are rewriting the rules of matrimony faster than you can say “signature cocktail.” We absolutely adore wedding parties with their array of personalities and heartfelt moments. Whether it’s eight friends flanking each side of the aisle or an intimate crew of six total, the memories made here become a part of your love story. There’s something about those coordinated outfits, the emotional speeches, and the joy of surrounding yourself with your ride-or-die circle.

But - and it’s a chic but - large wedding parties can be the logistical equivalent of herding cats in stilettos. Getting everyone to the right place at the right time, hairpins intact, can stretch your day and your patience. They often require a level of coordination best left to a seasoned director. On the flip side, we’ve seen couples trade in the traditional wedding party for something refreshingly relaxed. As I scanned the room for the perfect backdrop to showcase these shoes, my gaze landed on a striking vase - a true conversation piece. Placing the shoes atop it, alongside some carefully chosen jewelry, elevated the composition to a level of unexpected elegance. A style that feels beautifully offbeat and completely unique. The first image, captured on film, evokes a sense of nostalgia, a whisper from the past. The second, shot digitally, boasts a sleek, magazine-ready vibe. Why You Should Hire a Wedding Planner.

Think of a wedding planner as the conductor of a love story symphony. While they don’t play the instruments themselves, they know exactly how each one should sound, timing every note to perfection. One of the most enriching aspects of our work as wedding photographers and filmmakers is the privilege of witnessing the beautiful diversity of cultures and traditions. From our very first year, Michael and I found ourselves immersed in a vibrant array of weddings, from Muslim, Indian, and Nigerian celebrations, each one offering us new perspectives and an expanded understanding of love and unity.

Our journey has been filled with moments that deeply move us learning the customs, traditions, and sacred rituals of each couple we serve, who graciously trust us to document their stories and guide us into their worlds. Along the way, we’ve had the honor of capturing tea ceremonies, the tossing of dates and chestnuts, the Zaffe dance, glass-stomping, money dance, sword cake-cutting, and so many other beautiful traditions.

Each experience fills our hearts with gratitude and reminds us of the universal beauty that connects us all.

Ceremonies just hit different when it’s at Italianate inspired mansion. The Armour House is just incredible from its huge marble slabs, the bronze stair railings, and the hand-carved panels. The $2 million on landscaping by noted landscape architect Jens Jensen was just the finishing touch for the 29000 square foot mansion. It’s a hidden gem in Illinois creating that dramatic view when walking down the aisle.

There’s something undeniably wicked about exchanging vows at an Italianate-inspired mansion, and The Armour House is nothing short of extraordinary. Nestled in the picturesque Lake Forest, Illinois, this 29,000-square-foot estate stands as a testament to timeless elegance. From the sprawling marble slabs underfoot to the exquisite bronze stair railings and hand-carved wooden panels, every detail feels meticulously designed for grandeur.

But it’s not just the mansion’s interiors that captivate. Landscape architect Jens Jensen’s $2 million transformation of the grounds is the ultimate crowning touch. Fashion Through the City.

Salma and Jeremy - an effortlessly chic couple whose love story reads like a runway romance - knew they were destined for each other the moment their eyes first locked. For their engagement, they envisioned a modern fairytale, set against the backdrop of Chicago’s architectural grandeur. From the glistening façade of the Wrigley Building to the timeless elegance of The Rookery and the bold, Art Deco lines of the Board of Trade, their journey through the city felt like a love letter to both style and romance.

Salma’s gown, a showstopper from Milla, was a vision: the Blue Frill-Layered Fluffy Dress, with its voluminous tiers of fabric and dramatic sleeves, had an ethereal air of whimsy. The delicate corset back - Milla’s signature - cinched perfectly, creating a silhouette that balanced vintage allure with modern edge. As she descended the iconic stairs, the dress cascaded behind her, a sculptural masterpiece against the city’s architectural canvas.

Much like musicians who sample the sounds of past generations, today’s creators draw from a wellspring of aesthetic influences, infusing their own unique flair into their work.

Consider the artist Billie Eilish, whose track “Bury a Friend” ingeniously employs the sound of a dentist drill as a sample. It’s a bold choice that contains the essence of innovation - what the world hasn’t seen yet.
