have had the incredible opportunity of attending the West African Clean Energy and Environment Trade Fair & Conference (WACEE 2024) in Lagos, Nigeria. As the region’s leading event on clean energy, circular economy, and water management, WACEE 2024 brought together innovators, policymakers, investors, and industry leaders to tackle the most pressing environmental challenges we face today.

It was indeed an inspiring experience to see the diverse range of cutting-edge solutions, from clean energy innovations to circular economy initiatives. As a Strategic Communicator and passionate advocate for Energy Access and Sustainability, who had the privilege of representing Afro-Climate Vanguard (ACV), I was particularly excited to see the momentum building in these areas, which are crucial for Africa' economic growth and environmental resilience.

Having played in Nigeria's Electricity Supply Industry for a decade, when audience members were given opportunity to speak I added my voice to the need for continuous Customer Enlightenment Programmes with the End Users and the urgent call to educate Children and young people on sustainable practices in the sector and the entire journey of creating a safe space for everyone. I also spoke on the importance of including sustainability and green Economy in curriculum for an early start.

A huge thank you to the organizers and partners, including the German Missions in Nigeria, the FEDERAL MINISTRY OF INDUSTRY TRADE & INVESTMENT, the Lagos State Waste Water Management Office, and Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, for creating this dynamic platform.

We will continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible and work towards a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Africa!

It is not a Thursday but let me throwback to the inspiring 3 days of Global Tech Africa Conference in Lagos! I had the privilege of being part of a gathering that brought together over 6,000 participants, 100+ speakers, and countless innovative minds, all driven by Global Collaborations, Local Transformations.

It was fascinating to see how effective communication is an important element in driving tech innovation and adoption. Of course, as a communication professional I was particularly interested in AI and its tools that are gradually transforming our conversations in every sector and most importantly,how to manage the existential threats.

The session on 'Digital Transformation in the NESl: Challenges and Opportunities,as expected was dear to my heart because I believe access to affordable and reliable Electricity is the magic wand Nigeria and Africa need to boost our Economy.

On "Cosmetics meets Tech - Big Data and Analytics: Customer Insights Drive Product and Marketing" shows the importance of clear, data-driven communication in shaping product strategies and engaging customers.

As one who is curious about transitioning into the tech world, events like GTA reaffirm my belief in Africa’s incredible potential. It’s clear that the future is bright, and I’m excited to be part of this journey and contribute to bridging the gap between innovation and its communication with the world.

A big thank you to the organizers of the event Ascend Studios Foundation
and all the speakers. The event was really knowledge-packed that it was difficult to decide which session to miss as they were running concurrently.

Recently, one of the things I have enjoyed doing is consulting and training electricity workers on stakeholder management especially customer engagement. I had the privilege of sharing my insights during the just concluded REVENUE PROTECTION BOOTCAMP #2, organized by Power Africa in partnership with USAID Power Africa.

The session focused on mitigating losses in the Nigerian electricity distribution sector through strategic customer engagement. Given my firsthand experience in the electricity sector, I was able to address the pain points and interactively engage with the participants.

Strategic customer engagement remains a powerful tool for building trust which invariably adds to the bottom line while eliminating leakages and reducing ATC&C losses in the power sector.

This week, I will be sharing more about this particular event, my experiences, and why it means a lot to me. Have a blessed week ahead.

World Storytelling was marked yesterday, it reinforced what I have always known that storytelling is an integral part of Public Relations (PR).

Both individual and corporate brands gain loyalty by telling their stories which invariably builds trust.

Storytelling in PR is a strategic communication approach that utilizes narratives to convey messages, shape perceptions, and engage audiences.

‘Buying’ brand loyalty is about using storytelling techniques to craft compelling narratives that resonate with the target audience, humanize brands, and create emotional connections and eventually this leads to brand dominance.

A PR professional can effectively communicate the brand’s values, build trust, and enhance their reputation by integrating proactive storytelling into PR campaigns

So today, what story are you telling about your brand, personal or corporate? Do not allow another person to tell your story through their lens.

Telling your story by yourself will capture attention, evoke empathy, and inspire action, ultimately contributing to the achievement your personal organizational goals and objectives.

It was such a enlightening time hanging out on the evening of the International Women’s Day with likeminded outstanding women across the globe to inspire each other by sharing our achievements, challenges and what our big pictures look like.

Our moderator, the agenda/setting Natalie Natalie Forest, Ph.D. posed a interesting question about what inspires me😊. Here is the thing...

Each time I receive help, support, and mentorship from someone, I would always wonder what would have happened if the person didn’t show up to add value, to complete a missing puzzle in my life. Having these thoughts constantly playing at the back of my mind is a constant reminder that I am also the missing puzzle of some people’s lives. What happens to them if my light doesn’t come on?

I believe each of us has something to give in order to make our world better. Like the wise words from the Maverick CEO,Jennifer Randive in the course of the discussion “Wake up, shake up, and show up!”

Your dreams are valid so when in doubt, remember that you are the missing puzzle in someone’s world, so 'wake up,shake up, and show up.' Our world is waiting for you to make it better.

In 2023, I faced a series of challenges that truly tested my resilience and adaptability. Life threw curveballs my way, but each obstacle became an opportunity for personal and professional growth.

Amidst the trials, my family played an important role as a source of unshakable support. Their love and unity provided a stable foundation during uncertain times, reinforcing the importance of family and shared values.My friends, incredible support community were there to cheer me on.

The year became a transformative journey marked by overcoming obstacles. I embraced change, found innovative solutions, and discovered a profound sense of self-discovery. These challenges were not just stumbling blocks; they were stepping stones toward a stronger version of myself.

Throughout this process, my commitment to continuous learning, volunteering and sustainable living became the driving force behind the victories. I seized opportunities to enhance my skills, cultivate new talents, and broaden my horizons both personally and professionally.
