Originally based out of Pembroke, VA, DJ Flux has been DJing locally in the Giles/Montgomery areas for 15 years. The typical shows include school dances, parties, weddings, and local drama/plays that need lighting and/or sound. For our primary shows (school dances) we bring in a full lighting and sound system with a large selection of the latest popular music. Almost all of the music that we play
is based off of requests by the people at the event. One is a smaller stereo speaker system that can sit on poles and is capable of providing adequate sound for most vocal and moderately loud music events that don't require much bass. The second sound system is designed more for club like events such as high school dances and smaller live music concerts. It provides higher clarity and significantly more bass than the smaller speaker system. Both of these systems run through audio processors such as equalizers and crossovers to match the sound to the event room/location. We can mix most kinds of audio signals such as CD players, guitars, and microphones. We currently are geared more toward DJ shows but are slowly adding the required equipment for live shows. At this time we can work with an event that has equipment for live shows but would like help using it. We can also combine outside equipment with ours as needed for special shows. For example, if we were to do a live show at a church, we would use the church's microphones and monitor speakers and run them through our main speaker system. The lighting system is customize-able based on the show. We have a normal setup that we bring to school dances that includes 16 250 watt Par 38 lights, a Fearsome Four set (typical DJ lighting effect), a black light, and a video projector showing winamp visualizations. We also have a mirror ball, strobe light, more Par cans, and a fog machine. The lights are programmable on a computerized DMX light board. We plan on expanding this lighting system soon to include professional intelligent show lights - Martin Roboscan 918. While we have a standard DJ package that we use at school dances, we can also design event specific lighting for events such as theatrical performances. We can design a show using our lights, the venue's existing lighting, and/or rented lighting. Shows like this require significant time to plan before the event. DJ Flux is a group of friends interested in lighting and sound. We work on these events as a hobby after work. Because of this we do not charge full prices that many other DJs may charge, however, we treat each show as if it were a professional business. We hope to someday grow this group of friends into a small lighting and sound company. If anyone is interested in lighting and sound and would like to work with us, let us know. We do charge for events to cover the costs of growing our equipment and music inventory. Our base price for a 3 hour school dance is $300.00 for the large speaker system and the normal lighting system. The price varies for other types of events based on the time of planning required, equipment used, and scale of the event. You may have seen our work in these larger events:
