Pot liquor. It is part of my soul. I just drank a cup of this elixir of life. This is the glorious remains after prepping 10kg of collard greens with smoked turkey. It is deeply rooted in struggle. Italian, Black and Brown, Korean, Puerto Rican, French, Irish, Jewish, Lebanese, or wherever your people come from. This liquid gold IS the soul of cooking. Nutrient dense. Full of flavor. The thing that separates real food from fast food. It is the unrecognized gift I share with every soul I encounter.
I may not be back in the kitchen yet, but you can bet that I am pushing family flavors in my mind like a beast. Thank you for the honor and the opportunity as I share a bit with good souls this holiday season...
