Some of our valued Customers will know by now we are heavily investing our time into the 1940's, a very significant part of our History.
It is with great sadness that I announce the Country's loss of John Trotman, who? you will very likely say... (Take a mere minute of your time to read a little about this Hero and True Legendary WW2 Pilot.
As a secret surprise for our 1940's Weekender, which took place in July at Sleap Airfield, we had invited John Trotman as our Honorary VIP Guest and his Wife. Sadly Johnny never got to us, after a fall 3 days before our event, which he was so looking forward to.
John Trotman, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross twice for 70 missions with RAF Bomber Command. In the course of 5ยฝ years, he clocked up over 2,000 flying hours, completed two operational tours, and walked away from three crashes โ an extraordinary record.
Asked about swooping down as low as 30ft on War missions, the former Air Force pilot told BBC Radio Shropshire it was "almost ground level" and he had to drop bombs in tunnels.
"You have to dive... towards that hole, direct the bombs which... had delayed action fuses, so that you could bounce the bombs along the track and into the tunnel.
"Then you had to fly immediately upwards, away from the area just across the mouth of the tunnel when... of course after about 10 seconds or so [the bombs] exploded."
John Trotman DFC & BAR, who left us on 27 August 2024 aged 102yrs young.

Our mission statement is to uphold and remember those of the show-business industry who gave so much to boost morale during World War 2 both at home and on the front line. To reinforce their contribution to the war effort through a lasting memorial along with presentations and educational programmes for schools, organisations and the general public. Thus creating a legacy to both present and future generations!
Entertainment played a vital part in helping Britain win World War 2 and cost some performers their lives and it is only right that a memorial honouring the work of the everyday musicians, the jobbing actors, variety acts and such like should feature at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.
Vivienne Hoye, a 17 year old dancer (Pictured) who lost her life when after entertaining troops in Belgium an air raid forced them to hastily pack up the truck, and in the pandemonium that ensued the truck ended up on a mined field!
We can all thank the truly astounding work that Gracie Fields, Dame Vera Lynn and George Formby and many many others delivered, but this can only make you think.

A selection of Members from the UK's Large Model Association will be joining us.
There will be some actual live planned aerial entertainment at set timings Saturday and Sunday, to witness these incredible large scaled warbirds take off from the runway.

Currently under loving restoration, but open to the Public, you will be mesmerised by the internal contents.

Well, this 'could' be your chance. Joining us this year will be Ifly Spitfire Simulator.
Experience the thrill of being part of the Battle of Britain by flying in this exact 1/1 scale MK IX Spitfire. The aircraft features fully functioning analogue instrumentation and flight controls, with many original period parts fitted and functioning in accordance with the original warbird including realistic sound and vibrations.
You can enjoy a flight over Dover, France or London, all set in the 1940s, or test your skills at dogfighting and shooting down the Luftwaffe.
There are many different scenarios available, including taxi take-off and landing.
They aim to provide 15 minutes of experience - a brief explanation of controls and 10 minutes of flying time.
