5 amazing courses! 🍴This was an anniversary dinner for some of my favourite clients. I’ve been catering for their anniversary every year since I started my business in 2018 - I guess it’s become a bit of a tradition now 🥰

A little canapé action from yesterday’s wedding 🎊 congratulations H+P 💕

➡️ Whipped feta + roasted tomato crostini
➡️ Smoked tofu salad rolls with sweet chili sauce
➡️ The awesome women that served them up! I have the best team 😍

This was the first wedding of the season for me this year, and it came with its challenges! We had a storm on Wednesday and I lost electricity in my kitchen. BIG thank you to .guayaki for letting me use their kitchen in a pinch, & .tortilleria for letting me use the fridge on the farm, and for letting me use their freezer! The community really came through for me and I could not have pulled this wedding off without that help! Thank you ❤️

Cooking in the galley of a sailboat was definitely a different experience, but I loved it and can’t wait to do it again! There’s something about whale watching through the window while cooking that you just can’t beat 😂

Fresh figs in October? Don’t mind if I do! 😍

I got these delicious figs from a farm on Salt Spring last week, this island has the best produce! I made this tasty fig and honey olive oil cake with most of them, and then piled the rest on top of a coconut chocolate pot de creme 🤤

It’s been such a busy summer, but things are finally winding down a bit - stay tuned for all the pictures of food I cooked this season!! 😁

This baked chocolate ganache from ’s Nopi cookbook is the bomb.com!!! Paired with local strawberries (macerated, and as coulis), it doesn’t get more perfect than this if you’re a chocolate lover. Yum 😍

Surf and turf, but make it different 🥩🐟

Dukkah crusted beef tenderloin • pan seared halibut with gremolata • butter bean purée • potato fondant • sweet potato • roasted carrot and radish • wilted spinach

Beef and fish? Weird combination, I know! My client couldn’t decide between halibut and beef for their main course, so we went with both, and I think I made it work! Think of it as a modernized surf and turf 😂

It’s the simple things in life… like buttery, za’atar covered, perfectly fried plantain… YUM!!!

Save this post so you can try this bomb ass za’atar plantain recipe at home ⬇️😍

➡️ Za’atar Recipe:
2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
1 tbsp dried thyme
2 tbsp dried oregano
1 tbsp ground cumin
2 tbsp sumac
1 tbsp Aleppo pepper flakes (optional)
1 tap kosher salt

Combine all the ingredients and store in an airtight container. Feel free to give it a pulse in your blender to get the flavours together more. Use this on meat, fish, plantain, roasted veggies, hummus, pita bread, in salad dressings, and sooo much more!

➡️ Za’atar Plantain:
Ripe plantain
Za’atar
Butter

1. Heat butter in a frying pan over medium-low heat.
2. Slice as much plantain as your heart desires into 1cm thick pieces.
3. Place the plantain in the hot buttery pan and sprinkle some za’atar on the plantain.
4. Cook it until it’s golden (about 4-5 mins), then flip, sprinkle on more za’atar, and fry till both sides are golden brown (another 4-5 mins).
5. Add more butter at the very end if you like it buttery, and enjoooyy 😍

So grateful to be back on Salt Spring at this time of year, when all my favourite farms are harvesting the best summer produce. 🌱🥗 It really doesn’t get any more local than this, even the feta cheese came from one of my favourite farm stands (Eco Reality Farm). Yum 😍
