My love letter to larch season:
Here, but not here.
After 8 months straight slinging flowers I found myself feeling some pretty solid fatigue thanksgiving weekend.
The last couple weeks working toward next season weeding, transplanting, and amending, have had a restorative effect on my brain. I'm ready to order seeds, plan next season, and am thinking about how to make my season longer. I'm even wishing for more perfect days like these to reflect on the year gone by while digging in the dirt.

ok guys, I'm selling my eucalyptus plants from this season. Normally I'd overwinter them but I'm shutting down my greenhouse for a month this winter.
It's hard to say goodbye because they've been with me for longer than a typical human gestation period but I need a month free from plant care.
Plants are in #2 pots. They will do well on your windowsill during winter. Enjoy them outside next season and for years to come.
Plants are $20. Grown with love, nothing weird

Handing the season over to everlasting wreaths. Wreaths are made to order and unique.
Hang your wreath indoors and out of direct sunlight for best longevity. You’re welcome to hang it on your door but they don’t fare well when the cold weather rolls in and the resident deer would really like to eat it.
Happy to answer any questions or orders via message.

Ya never know when that autumn joy is gonna show up. Every time I pulled out my massive stash of Ammobium I felt happy so I guess that’s it.
There’s some tucked in every everlasting bouquet I made for the Cranbrook farmers’ market this weekend cause I hoarded so much I can share with everyone. See you tomorrow 10-1 by rotary park.

Raising lisianthus awareness!!!
They are usually last to sell at market because people don’t know what they are.
They are really long lasting and take more than 6 months to bloom. They have a reputation for being fussy but once they’re in the ground they do pretty well without much special attention. I mostly grew them for weddings this fall. These bloomed a bit later.
I’m hoping that by putting them out here they can become a part of my fall bouquets rather than just event flowers.
These last ones went to a regular customer who is a big flower fan and requested any extras. Cheers!!!!

Last wedding bouquet of the season!
Thank you to my couples for choosing my flowers for your special day. Congratulations on your love!
When all the ingredients are grown on the farm you have to be somewhat flexible cause you never know what Mother Nature will throw at you. This bouquet was almost in dried form as frost arrived the day of the ceremony.

The flowers kept giving so I hit both local farmer’s markets one more time last week. Definitely for the last time with fresh flowers this season as my tender annuals (aka backbone) got hit with frost on the weekend.
It’s been my most successful season yet getting flowers to their homes. Huge thank you to everyone who bought bouquets from me over the last 7-8 months. It’s so nice to have the best “regulars”.
Dried flowers to follow in a few weeks. My 10,000 bulbs will be here soon and I better get ready. Time to tear it down so I can build it up again.

Autumn colours made their way into this mid September wedding. Funny how seasonal colours are impossible to avoid in nature when selecting the best offerings at that particular moment.
Fog and moody skies dominated the morning of the celebration. David and Katie photography captured that moment beautifully before the sun broke through (first picture)

I always tell myself that I’ll grow more eucalyptus next year but somehow I never do.
I started a bunch of seeds around Christmas on top of the couple dozen plants I planned to overwinter. My seedlings did great but all my mature plants died in the cold snap except one.
I did get one more cutting session this year than usual so I’m feeling overall positively about this foliage.
I’ll let you know if I have any luck keeping this year’s plants going over winter and I’m going to start a bunch more seeds again around Christmas.

I try to have all the successes and regrets of the season recorded by now in photos. I need the visual cues for seed ordering and starting as I would not remember anything from the season without them.
It’s also the time when the field starts to look like autumn and I’ve begun to pull some tired annuals.
These sunflowers have started to bloom and I’m glad to see their fresh, new faces though I wish they were here a month earlier. I wondered what they were for months (they took a long time to bloom) and of course I neglected to label them.
They’re brightening up my bouquets at the Cranbrook farmer’s market today,
likely my last local market with fresh flowers. I am committed elsewhere next week and frost looks like it’s coming soon after.
*see you with dried flowers after a short break!!!*

Kimberley market day!!!
I’ve been hesitant to say anything here about this topic.
There have been whispers and straight out negative comments about this market recently. Ya, it used to be 2 blocks long and hasn’t really recovered from the pandemic. Funnily enough, I hear these comments finished with “this is my first time this year” and “I haven’t made it down”.
Guys, if you want your local market to be great, you have to help make it great by showing up…. We’re here every week possible.
I don’t want to see this market peter out.
I appreciate every one of you that comes out to support local.

Casually disbudding lisianthus, pretending the risk of frost doesn’t exist these nights. I’ve never put up tunnel for autumn before but it’s August 27th and I’m glad I did 😵‍💫

By the time I met this hilarious bride she was tired of making wedding decisions (still excited for the big day though!)
She came out to the farm and we decided on fresh flowers instead of dried. We kinda decided on a palette but mostly I just made her a bouquet that speaks to late August with warm days and cool nights. You can see the leaves are starting to change in the last frame.
Hope this couple had a fun day free from decisions!!!
