The Music Circle is proud to announce the first concert of our 2025 spring season! Join us on March 1 for Ras - Raga and Rhythm, a memorial concert in honor of Zakir Hussain.
This concert presentation focuses on the evolution of modern day Indian music in both Carnatic and Hindustani styles. In the great improvisational traditions of music, one can see a resemblance between the Indian Music Traditions and Jazz. Both traditions involve fixed compositions, standards and artistic innovation which fuels the evolution of the music.
Featuring Ganesh Rajagopalan (violin) and Anantha R. Krishnan (mridangam).
🗓️ March 1 at 6 PM
📍 Herrick Chapel at Occidental College in Los Angeles, CA
