Initially, techno was very much inspired by new technology. Did that seduce you?

“For me, technology is very much a means to an end. People might be surprised, but I don’t have a keyboard fe**sh. They’re just tools to create with and when I first started making techno I used whatever I could get my hands on or borrow. Looking back, I had to be really inventive about how I used and processed sounds with very basic equipment. Over the years, I’ve had the budget to buy more gear but it took me many years to realise that restrictions were actually a good thing.

“It’s that thing about having infinite plugins on your computer and how they can often be more of a curse. So I don’t have a studio where everything’s set up and connected to a patch bay, I just pick some gear, create a live setup on a little folded table and work on projects using that ideology.”

Techno mainstay Anthony Child used a stripped-back setup to capture the energy of his live performances in recording his latest album, Crash Recoil. Danny Turner finds out more

White Noise 900 happened this week, 900 weekly episodes of a radio show, incredible to get to that number. Thank you to everyone that has sent me messages and emails over the last few days (I was reminded by email that my first show was started off by “La Sirena” a track that Andrew Weatherall was kind enough to give me an exclusive on) White Noise carried on from Technology (broadcast for 4 years on various fm stations and low bitrate internet via real player) which carried on from my brief tenure on BBC Radio One ( the irony of being told that techno has no future and shouldn’t be on a weekly radio show on that station🤫) which was all started by being given a chance on Festival Radio in Brighton. I would like to thank everyone that gave me a chance, thanks to all the partner radio stations throughout the years, massive thanks to RTE 2fm for being such a constant, thanks to all the producers and guests who have submitted tracks or been guests, the loyal listeners and a special mention to Gerard Waldorf for talking me into restarting and giving White Noise it’s first home at VPRO. In the end no big celebration (lets try to get to 1000 episodes for that) just doing what I love by playing fresh new music. Thank you everyone 🖤

About The Escape Velocity.

Dear Reader,

It’s been over a year since we started this project The Escape Velocity and as our root objective was to give support to artist that specialize in this unique form of Science Fiction Techno Music, we seemed to uncover what many of us that have been in Electronic Music for a while have always sensed but never had tangible proof. That, this genre of Music stretches far beyond the boundaries of Europe and The Americas and that it still continues to spread at a rate that is elusive to mark and calculate. This might suggest that by its natural elasticity and durability, Techno could be around for a long time and this is exactly what The Escape Velocity is about.

By its definition [Escape Velocity]: a rate of speed of (25,000 miles per hour) it takes to break free of Earth’s gravitational pull in order to leave this planet to explore the Cosmos, our working process related to this music is nearly the same meaning. Our goal is to consistently locate and help launch new music and artists.

Techno Music is special, but this form that translates visions, dreams and theories in great detail about our future and what lies beyond Earth just might be one of the most important forms of music to exist. And, the artists and producers that create these special works all possess the unique ability translate for us all.

We are excited about the future of Techno Music and look forward to launching more albums and artists through The Escape Velocity in the months and many years to come.

◾ Skeptik ◾

Skeptik je techno/electro projekt, alter ego Pere Fullhousea – dja, promotora, organizatora, radio voditelja, vlasnika i pokretača Moondance festivala i prije svega nezasitnog glazbenog sladokusca. Pero, dobitnik Ambasadora za životno djelo, kao jedan od pionira hrvatske elektroničke scene je među najpoznatijim hrvatskim klupskim dj-ima koji je nizom kultnih događaja pridonio usponu hrvatske klupske scene na svjetsku mapu i time pomogao da Hrvatska postane jedna od najpoznatijih festivalskih destinacija.

Budući da se Perin glazbeni ukus formirao pod utjecajem raznih glazbenih žanrova, od crnačke glazbe, punka, elektronike i industriala do rock glazbe, bilo mu je teško izraziti se samo jednim projektom.

Zato je 2017. pokrenuo alter ego Skeptik, techno alias koji predstavlja Perin mračniju, industrijsku i eksperimentalniju stranu.

Kombinirajući energične i hipnotičke zvukove sirovog 4/4 techna sa slomljenim ritmovima broken techna i electra Skeptik briše granice između žanrova stvarajući jedinstvenu atmosferu na plesnom podiju. Beskompromisna selekcija zajedno s njegovim vještinama za dj pultom osigurala mu je brojne nastupe u kratkom vremenu u nekim od najpoznatijih stranih i domaćih klubova i festivala kao što su Tresor i Ritter Butzke u Berlinu, Concrete u Parizu, Sarajevo Film Festivalu, Dimensions festivalu, Projektu Vojarni, Resistanceu i mnogim drugima.

Kada je kurir od etikete došao po remiks za The Lemonheads koji je Richard trebao isporučiti on nije imao što predati jer je pri slušanju orginala zaključio da je pjesma teško sranje. Umjesto toga, zgrabio je neku svoju random stvar, predao je i dobio četiri tisuće funti. "Čudno, nikad ga nisu objavili", rekao je za Loaded. Trebali su mi odati počast jer je to zvučalo bolje od bilo koje glupe pjesme koju su napisali.
