Hailing from Hawkes Bay and of Maori descent - Jayrasik first discovered his interest in becoming a DJ, when he was introduced to the New Zealand DJ Battle competitions by a family friend at 8 years old. Before long, he was entering these competitions and found himself placing within the top 3 DJ’s in the country. His passion for hip hop grew even more from watching early 90’s/2000s DMC Battles an

d from the 80s hiphop movie ‘Beat Street’. Mainly Turntablist. DJ Jayrasik now has over 20 years experience in the music industry, since entering the scene professionally for events at just 14 years old. He has worked alongside multitudes of local and international artists including L.A.B, Kora, Summerthieves, Katchafire, Sean Kingston, Ja Rule, T-Pain, Ashanti, Mya - just to name a few. DJ Jayrasik is also a regular entertainer at New Zealand’s largest music festivals, and frequently travels for events such as One Love Festival, Splore Bay Dreams, Homegrown, Goodvibes Festival and more.He has also spent a certain amount of time on air with stations such as Mai FM and Flava FM. He has established a respectable professional reputation within the music industry, whilst developing many connections and friendships, which have ensured his repeated attendance for many more shows and festivals (new and old) yet to come. We built our names from love for the artform of Turntablism, Raps & Hiphop & Not by the amount of followers like today's world. These three gentlemen all had a small group of hard-core followers. Like physical ones that would actually travel to their gigs. Even if it was out of town! I was fresh on the scene and still trying to build a rep by getting amongst like minded chaps and guys who were paving the way for newbies like myself 😄

Got the last min call up to fill in for me mate Jordan Lee at Outfield Festival as he couldn't make it down. So myself & my emcee BenjaminFriday had to take the reigns and do the mahi. What actually topped my night off too was having my son Kora join us on stage too!! My boy is my tail. He never leaves my side! Topman my boy 🙌🏾💜

Also on another note, If you are in Auckland. Catch us perform this full set at Chase The Sun Music & Food Festival happening on Saturday 2nd of March at Pine Harbour Marina, Auckland. And also Beats, brews & BBQ festivals on Sunday 3rd March.

I felt like that teen again last Saturday night at Summer Frequencies in Gisborne. Was so good to catch them live again.
Big up the Dkonz for running it back for our era. Good times back in early 2000s.

Big Davy , Rachel & the whole Summer Frequencies team for having me on alongside my brethren DJ KG on Friday night for the pre party ting.. had major fun rearranging USB sticks and sets 🤣🤣 na jokes. The one thing I did love about this festival though, was seeing new talent on the line up for a change. Giving the next generation a go and a festival platform for them to spread their wings some more! My first time using a Rev-7 too. Cool little controller 😎

ALSO!!! You cannot go past without acknowledging the most important people of them all...the sound crew, production crew, the ones who kept everything flowing on stage. I see you brothers!! Mad love to you guys! And also the cooks for our Kai in backstage! Thank you amilli for feeding us artist 🙏🏽 and the security for doing the hard mahi in that heat!

It was actually bloody cool, refreshing & less stressful not DJ'ing a whole day this time around. I got to be free and hang out and roam around for a change. Been there, done that. Someone else's turn now 🤣

Devastated when I heard the news you had passed. Best headmaster Hastings Boys' High School ever had! Especially during my time there. I started in 2002. Same time you started and you were still going strong many years later. I was so happy to see you drop into the Trilogy Barber expo just two weeks ago and have a little korero with you.

Been a minute since I've done the club thing and finished at 3am 🥴 But in saying that. Blenheim you were on!!! 🔥🔥🔥From 11pm till close. Whether you stood at the front most of the night staring a hole through me making me feel awkward & uncomfortable or were yelling louder than the P.A system with the sing alongs 🤣 Phaakin Cool night 😎

Tbh I was nervous & anxious and all that. New grounds to me and first time playing this spot but we got there and enjoyed the hell out of it 💯
But big Thank you to The Yard Bar & awesome staff for looking after myself & BenjaminFriday during our time there. We will return 😀

Another little juggle i come up with when I was 15 years old. Using my Pioneer CDJ 1000Mk2's & broken ass Vestax 06 mixer with a stiff fader and broken headphone socket. Now trying to re-create it on a pair of Official Rane DJ Rane 12's and Rane 70 Mixer. This was Peter James Scratch Break from DJ Sirvere's Major Flavours 5 album that I used.
