Our Story

Hey there, I'm Krista, Owner & Creative Director Extraordinaire of Paper Jewels Events and Paper Jewels Designs. I thought it'd be fun to share a little about myself so you can understand why I LOVE what I do here at Paper Jewels! I’m a coffee-addicted, beach-loving, 🍷wine-drinking, 🏈 football-watching, party-planning🌴 California girl to the core! I’ve been told that I have an infectious laugh and I take that as a great compliment because I try to live my life with a positive outlook and by always seeing the glass as half full. I believe that how we handle both the good and bad that life throws our way is what defines our character, and this is a value that I work hard to instill in my children. After meeting me, it doesn’t take long to learn that I’m a huge sports fan! I was born into a family whose roots are in deeply seeded in Colorado and love their Denver Broncos like no other. I’ve been a spirited fan of the Orange and Blue all my life – even in the challenging years! I also have a deep affection for baseball and I’m not to proud to say that my favorite player is my son who now plays for his college team. My daughter’s love for soccer has opened a whole new world for me as a “Sports Mom” and she’s often who I learn the most from – not just in sports, but in life. She is wise beyond her years. I’ve always been an independent spirit and very driven in my passions. I come from two very hard-working, dedicated parents who taught me the value of a dollar. I started my first business when I was 25 after having just moved to San Diego knowing only a handful of people. I had great success in that endeavor and still retain close relationships for some of my previous clients. When I was younger, I worked hard for myself. Once I had a family, I realized how important it was to be a positive influence and strong role model for my kids – just as my parents were for me. Why I started Paper Jewels Designs: I’ve always had a love for creating unique and festive parties and events! For many years, I only shared this love with my family and close friends, however, about ten years ago after I was laid off from my job, I decided to see if I could turn my hobby – and passion – into a business. Paper Jewels started out as a custom stationery business and has now grown into offering an array of event planning and coordination services! What I've gotten from my business endeavors thus far: This little business of mine has given me so much more in return than I ever could have imagined! Through this endeavor, I have learned so much about myself, including some of areas that could be improved upon. I’ve made some amazing friends along the way and these people have become my biggest supporters. They are the ones who give me the confidence to keep going and stay focused. Life’s celebrations are a very personal time for most of us. My clients put their trust in me to make these events special and memorable and that is not something I take lightly. I treat every event as if it’s my own and truly feel blessed to be a part of their memories. The true reward for me is seeing how happy and appreciative my clients are when their visions come to life.
