“For Tangled Up in Blue I have focused on blue as an emotion. Feelings of sadness, regret, and fear are often tangled together, making it hard to parse through who I am and what I am feeling. Painting helps me accept feeling blue as a part of the ride, rather than a part of myself.”

🔵 The show-stopping, drop-dead gorgeous Prints-4-Prince portrait? That was artist Ellen Cabacungan @ilikethatpainting .
She followed that up by winning our @ikeausa canvas giveaway and transforming it into a [tonight we’re gonna party like it’s] 1999 Y2K still life. That piece is currently hanging in a North Durham home 💜
Ellen Cabacungan @ilikethatpainting is a YouTube-taught painter based in Chapel Hill, NC. Her affinity for oversaturated palettes and maximalist compositions lend her work a sense of exuberance. When she’s not painting, she enjoys spending time with her family and collecting painting supplies.
