Being 22 weeks pregnant and too paranoid to walk outside (thx omicron🙄), I finally have time to pursue a dream of mine (drumroll please…)—

becoming a VIDEO BUSINESS EDUCATOR 🎥

Videogs + photogs, you know we all have one difficulty when it comes to posing couples.

▪️It can be all too easy to run out of (creative) ideas during a shoot ▪️

It doesn’t matter if you’re a total newb or a seasoned professional, EVERYBODY runs into a creative rut from time to time.

hey hello hi still alive here 👋

the last two months have been jam-packed but so much fun!! (Lots of fun = lots of EDITING too😂) That being said, I have a NEW film coming out NEXT WEEK. My absolute favorite part about it is the letter reading portion, so prepare the tissues!!

I’m living my dream job.

today I’m sitting here editing a wedding film from last week, and I have to pinch myself thinking that I get to do what I love for a living. all of the support I’ve received from the wedding community, my couples, and other creatives/vendors has exceeded all that I had imagined.

thank y’all for the love, and for sharing your stories with me. truly, there’s no greater honor than being trusted to craft your love stories on film. and the beautiful reviews that come in are what make my job all the more sweet and fulfilling. ☺️

I think it’s about time I introduce myself again! Wedding season has just begun and I want to be a familiar face for all of my brides!

• My name is Sydney Smith (hence the name “Smithhouse”) and I was born and raised here in NorCal! I feel lucky to have grown up in such a beautiful place and community, makes my job so much easier!!

• I originally went to school thinking I would be a nurse, graduated with a journalism degree, and now I’m the sole proprietor of my wedding videography business so you never really know where life will take you , huh? I love where I ended up! 🎥

• If you’ve booked me for your wedding, you’re going to meet my super attractive second shooter (my husband Travis haha). He’s my other half and cheers me on in all my ambitious goals! (Which I have too many of but it’s okay hahaha)

• I LOVE videography. Like, a lot. I obsess over getting a perfect shot with perfect colors and motivated lighting. I want your video to be moving, I want it to move me as well! I’m awestruck when I see the love between two people who are perfect for each other, and that’s what makes this job so fulfilling ☺️

• I am not a pineapple on pizza kind of gal, I’m sorry but it had to be said 😮

I had the cutest little helper at my last shoot! She was the official phone holder while her parents modeled for the shoot. In the last picture I was flying my drone and she kept asking when it would be her turn 😆. do we have a future videographer here?

“Paris and I met when we were 15 & 16 years old. I was smitten with him from the moment I met him. Paris ended up moving in the middle of high school so we ended up never dating. However we did manage to stay in touch and hang out over the next 5 years. We were pretty close and always ended up coming back together no matter how many years passed. We eventually decided we couldn’t imagine spending our lives with anyone else. We later had our daughter and got married. We have been together for 5 years now. He is my soulmate, my favorite person, and my very best friend.”

I loved capturing this day for Christine and Anthony— a couple who eloped ten years ago and never had a full-on wedding— here’s a little snippet of their story. 🎞

“In 2010 Christmas Eve he proposed to me by singing ‘I want to grow old with you’ by Adam Sandler. He couldn’t afford a ring and gave me his Grandma’s ring. We were planning the wedding, and kept looking at the cost, and were like ‘man this is going to break us’... We were on track to do a cheap wedding, I had the dress and everything, when we decided to ELOPE. We had my Dad marry us up at Treetop park April 1, 2012. Yes, April fools day! We had our immediate family there and a friend each. We ate at our favorite Hawaiian restaurant and got our favorite cake from a local restaurant. It was perfect but we have always wondered what it would be like to do it ‘right.’”

“Working with you was an amazing experience. You made us feel really comfortable and confident. The direction you gave us made us feel at ease and never uncomfortable. It just felt natural and like you were narrating our own love story! I could tell you had a creative eye and was amazed at the beauty of the shots that came out. The video is truly a work of art. The shot where we are looking into each others eyes and the blue sky is in the background is our favorite. We could not have had a better experience. Thank you!” 😇
