I’ve really no clue how the mixcloud charts work. Some people say it’s percentage listened. Some say it’s the saves and shares. It’s clearly not the play count alone.

Whatever it is I’m happy that my first mix in forever has entered the global top 100 in 2 charts. Thanks to everyone listening and sharing or whatever it is that you’re doing to help me climb into those charts

Well it’s been a while but new mix up on zee mixcloud! A little techy, housey kind of mix inspired by my trip to Brighton Music Conference last week, with a little ode to the DT shedhead crew!

I’m seeing a lot of videos of parties where the DJ hits the drop and the party is just people with phones etc….

I need to be honest here. This is a problem created by the industry. Pointing at the crowd and saying they should be dancing is papering over the problem.

When the “headliners” became the superstars we lost the soul of the party. It used to be that the DJ was secondary to the overal vibe of the party. Yeah we go to see the big names etc but when you’re painting your headliners as superstars your telling the crowd you’re there to worship them and not get lost in the party. So it’s no surprise that everyone has their phones out because that’s what they’ve essentially been trained to do over the last whoever many years.

And the djs complaining about the dancefloor not being the same are partly to blame because they’ve put themselves on a pedestal with high fees and the need to be the center of attention.

Time to get back to the music and why we go to these parties. It used to be about the vibe and loving the music and connecting through that with friends on the dancefloor. The only way to get back to that is to get past the ego stroking and concentrating on building the vibe the way we used to.

Anyway that’s my 2 cents. You can agree or disagree but that’s just my thoughts on the state of the clubbing scene these days.

Always been a fan of movie soundtracks. Not just the usual “pop” music filled soundtracks but the classical as well.

My absolute favorite of all time is Bill Conti’s Victory Theme from Escape to Victory (simply called Victory here in the states) starring Micheal Caine, Max von Sydow, Sly Stallone and Pele.

In my opinion, the best football (soccer) movie of all time also. but that theme always invokes real emotion for me. Brooks was here by Thomas Newman sits a close second…

Underground at Mirage 2.0 was an absolute vibe last night and seeing the dancefloor full with everyone smiling and dancing filled my heart with pride and joy!
