On Saturday, May 4th I was a Danbury Mall for the first of several Relay For Lifes in the area. I was set up on a stage area on the lower level directly in front of the elevator. This was an 8 hour event with several things going on during the day. They had a giant table with many great prizes that were donated such as: Fred Astaire Dance Studio 4 free lessons, Stew Leonard gift card, Bath & Body Works and many more. Opening Ceremony started at 9 AM with Rich Minor from 98Q, Carmen Olivia from Bethel High School who sang the National Anthem, our survivor Honoree Speaker was Vera Delohery & a great speech from Dr. Anderson (Chief Breast Surgical Oncology and Breast program Danbury Breast Center). After a great opening ceremony, the walk inside the mall began. At 11 AM a dance routine was performed by the Fred Astaire Dance and at Noon 3D Academy performed with a bunch of youth singers that were excellent. At 1 PM St. Lukes School led some fun games and trivia was at 3 PM with 12 bags of popcorn "Lesser Evil" were used as prizes. I kept the vibe going with fun upbeat music, some group dances but most importantly to keep things on time and to make announcements to raise money! Relay for Life was started in 1985 and has raised over 6.9 BILLION dollars. This is a great cause and a fun place to do the Relay For Life. Having both of my parents lose battles to cancer I stand proud to be able to support such a great organization. I placed a flower on the wall of "HOPE" where you honor someone. I bought a flower in honor of my daughter Chelsea who thank god has beaten back early stages of cancer and is now cancer free!!! Great job Danbury and looking forward to seeing everyone at my upcoming Relay for Life events in 2024.
