We started our journey back in June 2016 and the people we’ve met have been an important part of what makes us. Allowing us to do things differently. We’ve worked on the doors of venues, talked at music industry events and even put on our own events to help promote some of the great musical talent in Bristol, and beyond. We’ve met some truly inspirational people and continue to do so!
It’s the advice of the people and feedback that we receive which makes us feel like we are embeded in the scene. We don’t want to sit in an office counting money. We want to be with you, experience the sights, smells and sounds of attending music events and keep local music scenes running for years to come.
We’re a group of three deeply technical people who have been fortunate to have worked in a variety of industries ranging financial services, mobile app/web development agencies and even law firms! Collectively we have the skills and technical “know how” to allow us to use new ways of doing things to keep our operating costs down and hence our booking fees low. Not only that, we just love the fact we can bring our passion for technology together with our passion for music!
We couldn’t be more pleased with the progress we’ve made. We’ve sold thousands of tickets in 2018 and we’re now truly confident in the platform and where it is heading. Rather than tell you ourselves here are some of the tesmonials from the people we have worked with so far…
“Ether Tickets were very easy to work with and helped us all of the way from getting the tickets on sale to making sure their system ran well on the event day. The prices are fair and the team are fantastic. We will be working with them again very soon.“ - Ian Liversidge, Glastonbury Calling Festival

“As a promoter, Ether Tickets have been a fantastic platform to use for selling tickets and promoting Subsonic events. Their guidance on setting up event pages and advice of sales techniques has been extremely helpful plus the communication between promoter and ticket seller and assistance on the night is the best I’ve experienced in my 6 years of running events.
Ether Tickets social media posts about the events have been a great help too and their live streaming events have been a lot of fun to be involved with!
I’m excited to continue working with Ether Tickets for all future Subsonic events and would highly recommend checking them out! - Marcus Gear, Subsonic UK (https://www.facebook.com/subsonicweekender/)
“Having used Ether Tickets for a number of our House of Disco events in 2018 they will now always be our "go to" company for ticket sales. From our experience, their professional yet friendly service they provide goes above and beyond our expectations. Easy to use website, facebook promotion, friendly staff & low booking fees. 10/10 would recommend.” - Mike Braithwaite, House of Disco (https://www.facebook.com/houseofdiscouk/)
“The lengths Ether Tickets go to to make sure their clients are satisisfied and comfortable with the service they provide is second to none. It’s always reassuring when they are completely transparent regarding all matters, especially when it comes to all things financial. Ether Tickets helped us take the next move forward with our ticket sales through their forward thinking approach. I would recommend them to any business requiring a ticket service.” - Max Eastham, Sweatshop Audio (https://www.facebook.com/svvtshp/)
We’re still talking to many promoters and venues across the South West and have much more to come, so stay tuned!
There are several ways we do this:
Running our monthly live stream events “Ether Sessions” each month to help promote the great musical talent we have in Bristol.
Assisting upcoming events, labels and artists by facilitating their own promotional live streaming events. Rather than charge for these services we ask for donations to causes such as Youth Music and Caring in Bristol.
We recently bought a share to help save “Exchange”. Like all venues in Bristol the struggles with noise complaints and the opportunities to sell to property developers are real. It was great to be involved in this initiative which has seen the venue now owned by the community and raised over £300,000.
Although not strictly helping the music scene we facilitated tickets and offset the booking fees for a fundraising event for the Easton Community Centre. The event raised over £5000 of much needed funds the centre needs to survive.
We are working on a way we can either allow purchases to be topped up or create custom booking fees to aid good causes and not for profits organisations, with their own separate tracking pages to keep a running total on the money raised.

We first talked about Ether Tickets one summer's evening in “Yurt Lush” next to Temple Meads, Bristol back in 2016. We were exploring the potential of blockchain and more specifically Ethereum (Ether is the cryto-currency used for this blockchain). We were intrigued by the concept of “Smart Contracts” and that it may be possible to buy/sell tickets with extremely low cost by using this new technology. We still think that is possible, but the concept of asking someone to convert their money before buying a ticket, along with the volatile rises and falls in crypto-currency we feel it is still not the right time. However, we still keep an eye on where this technology is heading and hope to use it one day to lower costs further!
So, why still continue as Ether Tickets? We were fortunate enough to have invested in Ether quite early on when Bitcoin had already soared to high heights. We were looking for the next thing in the crypto space and we saw (and still see!) the potential for Ethereum. In essence the whole funding so far to bootstrap the ticket platform has been down to the investment we made in Ether and then sold in 2017 when it was near its peak (don’t worry we still have some!). We thought it was still a good name and had some meaning, so we stuck with it!
