ELOPEMENT "WITTERS"👼💍
Thankfully, we're not talking jitters here, we're taking the ultimate WITNESS / BABYSITTER combo!
Lots of our couples simply want to disappear into the wilds, just them and their kiddos, and put a ring on it. No fuss. No fanfare. However, this can prove tricky as couples are legally required to have two witnesses over the age of 16 present.
Happily, Trevor can be Witness no.1 & we can always organise another (who'll occasionally double-up as a babysitter)! Here's Paula's mum, Patricia, in action with wee Isla at Claire & Alex's GORGEOUS Camusdarach beach ceremony 😍

NOVEMBER IS THE NEW MAY 🍂✨💍
Massive congratulations to Emma & Craig who married in the gardens of Borrodale House this afternoon surrounded by golden trees (pics to follow).
Over the years, more and more couples have been choosing to say “I do” in autumn rather than spring or summer, and we totally get it. It’s an incredible time of year in the Highlands.
Great to work with Brogan from Bloom & Graze again today. Luckily for any would-be couples, she’s not a photographer (we did try!) but the gal does a GLORIOUS wedding spread 🍓🥗🥪🍤

CITY SLICKERS 💍🏴
It makes a change to meet up in the big smoke instead of the boggy wilderness! Naturally, we still gravitated towards something that resembled an altar. We’re not sure if the Devil’s Roast is available for micro-weddings, but if you’re after an inner city elopement, this is goals ✨

SAY "I DO" TO DREAMY ELOPEMENT ACCOMMODATION 🏡
At this time of year, the elopement enquiries really begin to ramp up a notch! Generally speaking, our 2025 couples are right at the beginning of their elopement planning journey and we always advise to get the perfect accommodation nailed first (and fast!)
We can then work from there - securing a date, picking a ceremony location, helping choose local suppliers etc.
We've snooped around LOADS of elopement love nests over the years, and here's some of our favourites 👇
Pssst: If you have a mega romantic rental property you think our couples will love, let us know and we'll list you.

One of Trevor's Glencoe weddings from earlier in the year.

I know it's one day late but I couldn't ket the year slip past without sharing one of my all-time favourite weddings, from way back in 2020!
Vicki and Bob traveled up to Arisaig for their September elopement on Camusdarach beach. It was windy enough to nearly blow their marriage paperwork into the sea but the wonderful Highland sunshine kept going all day, and even into evening when Vicki and Bob had a private picnic on the beach as the sun went down.
Such a perfect day!

Three years ago we were in Glencoe with the amazing Anna and Mark!
If you just focus on the joy & happiness at your wedding you'll be left with something lovely like Mark & Anna's Glencoe Wilderness Elopement

WORKING FROM HOME 💍
Sorry for not posting on here for AGES, but we couldn't not feature the elopement of the brilliant Emma & Kevin, because it took place right outside Paula's house! There's an incredible backstory to this ceremony so we'll expand at a later date in a blog, but for now, here's a few highlights from a wondrous day.
Incredibly, it poured down for weeks before and after the ceremony, but the sun shone for the happy couple for an hour or two that afternoon☀️

We think that winter elopements in Scotland are just the best!
Not only do you get some amazingly subtle and moody light for your photographs but there are no midges, no tourists loitering in the background, and you get to wear that amazing coat that's too warm for the summer.
Kirsten and Keenen had a mid-winter elopement at one of our all-time favourite locations - Castle Tioram. In fact, it's where Bog Cotton was born!
If you're thinking of a winter wonderland elopement along the west Highland coast of Scotland we would love to help. We can't promise you'll see sea-otters playing in loch Moidart like Kirsten and Keenan did, but we will do our best for sure 😉

Trevor has written a blog about two weddings he photographed one weekend in April, the first of which, Tom and Adele's, was a Bog Cotton one (we always get the worst weather haha!).
Two Different Glencoe Elopements. The same location, the same weekend, but the very different weather made for two completely different days.

STRIKE A POSE ⚡💥
When one of your brides (and solicitor!) ends up in actual Vogue. Here's Ciara looking all kinds of glorious. We always knew that Arisaig micro-weddings were cool AF.

A DREAMY BOG COTTON FINALE 💍
Our final elopement of the year took place on home soil and it was RIGHT up our street. No fuss. No fanfare. Just the way we like it. Chris and Amy put a ring on it between downpours on Silver Sands beach, and we couldn't have loved their day more. The colours, the crazy weather, the tale of their relationship embroidered onto their handfasting ribbons, a quaich-full of piping hot tea, a big bushy bouquet and a super-fun couple. Wondrous

We can't believe it's been two years already since this amazing winter wedding!
Ella and Stephen chose the stunningly beautiful Tigh Na Mara lodge in Acharachle for their ceremony. Their closest friends and family (and dogs) gathered around the log fire to witness this amazing moment in their lives. Before the daylight faded they popped over to nearby Castle Tioram (one of our favourite venues - it's where Bog Cotton was actually born!).
The wintery sunset photographs alone were definitely worth the trip ♥️

DON'T GO CHASING WATERFALLS 🌊
Hellish advice from TLC there. We love chasing waterfalls. Best backdrops ever! We didn't realise it had been FIVE months since we last posted here!! We're still going strong (not Trevor so much, he's getting really old now) 🙌

CAMPERVAN SANCTUARY 💍🚐
CAMPERVAN SANCTUARY 💍🚐
Following on from yesterday's rainy May post, this is the moment we had to "borrow" a lovely Polish family's cosy campervan to sign the Marriage Schedule in a dry place.
We'll be forever grateful to both the Polish family and Natasha & Mark for smiling through the squalls 🥰
Bog Cotton season is well and truly upon us! We neeeeeeeed a couple to marry on this next year 😍💍

HEATHER & HIGH TIDE
Today's ceremony was at Tougal beach where it was a pleasure to be serenaded by the lovely Ingrid Henderson and her trusty clarsach while we awaited the arrival of the happy couple <3

Who are we?
When photographer, Trevor Wilson, and Humanist Celebrant, Paula Wilkinson, met in 2018 at the wedding of Rebecca and Leigh at ancient Castle Tioram on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, it was the beginning of an exciting new venture that has since taken them on a marrying mission across the Highlands of Scotland where they’ve been honoured to be involved in the creation of some seriously epic elopements!
It was the simplicity, beauty and romance of Rebecca and Leigh’s elopement to such a wild, wonderful and remote part of Scotland that captured both Trevor and Paula’s imagination and so it was decided that they would join forces and offer loved-up couples a bespoke, adventure elopement experience that would knock their socks off and so Bog Cotton Scottish Elopements was born!
Bog Cotton may sound like something you might flush down the toilet, but it’s actually a gloriously ethereal flower which grows out of peat bogs across the wilds of Scotland. Aside from the fact that the sight of thousands of white, fluffy Bog Cotton heads dotted across a windswept glen is incredible, the message behind something so beautiful having the ability to grow out of nothing but mud, is the perfect analogy to Trevor and Paula’s vision for their adventure elopements. Plus, if you stretch your imagination a little, Bog Cotton even looks like tiny veiled faerie brides!
So if you’re looking to elope to the Scottish wilderness for a one-of-a-kind micro wedding, then look no further. Paula and Trevor will use their extensive knowledge of Scotland to find your perfect ceremony location. By getting to know your preferred landscape, how adventurous you’re willing to get, the number of guests attending as well a plethora of other factors, they can determine the best possible location and timeline for your big day.
Trevor is based near Glasgow and has twenty years experience as a wedding and travel photographer and has captured the magic at hundreds of elopements and weddings all over Scotland throughout his career. Specialising is a more informal documentary style of photography he is perfectly suited to capturing your elopement for you, no matter where you choose to have it or what happens on the day. He definitely prefers to photograph more relaxed and intimate weddings and feels that you can really focus on the important parts of a wedding ceremony that way. Absolutely loving the Scottish wilderness Trevor is more than happy to work with you to help choose a location that will add that extra bit of beauty to your photographs whilst keeping the adventurous aspect at a comfortable level for you.
Paula lives in the western Highlands and trained as a Celebrant with Fuze Ceremonies and now represents the company across the Highlands and Islands. Having graduated with first class honours in English Literature and Journalism, she loves the creative element of writing and delivering wedding scripts. Paula firmly believes that no matter what your journey as a couple, it is a one of a kind love story and she is eager to tell the tale! Due to her affiliation with Fuze Ceremonies, Paula is fully insured and benefits from the Fuze “back-up” promise, so even if she is struck down by illness on the morning of your big day, there’s a full back-up procedure in place to assure your big day can still go ahead.
Both Trevor and Paula are mildly obsessed, okay MASSIVELY obsessed, with mega adventurous couples and will climb mountains, kayak into the middle of lochs or stand on a beach in a storm to capture the perfect moment to ensure your memories from your big day will never be forgotten. They’re also obsessed with dogs at weddings!
