💜When you hire someone to marry you, what's involved? What goes into the fee charged?

An officiant/minister will meet with you, have several phone conversations and send many emails back and forth to create your perfect ceremony.

Full service includes letting you know the requirements of the Marriage Act, the types of ceremonies available, offering you several ceremonies or writing one from scratch. Whether your ceremony is short or long, the same prep is involved.

After you have decided on a ceremony, you will be offered readings to include in your ceremony.

You will also be offered info on how to procure and fill out your wedding licence, including time lines for it and the types of ID required.

What's the difference between legally changing your name or assuming your husband's? Your minister will help you with that as well.

Have you been divorced? Your officiant or minister will let you know what's needed to remarry. Divorced outside of Canada? Different info will be offered.

They will coordinate with your venue, photographer, DJ and other wedding pros the day of to make sure all of the details are looked after.

Once your ceremony is over, they will send your paperwork away that they have filled out.

In three months they will remind you to apply for your marriage certificate with the link online to get started.

Ministers and officiants pay insurance, taxes, training costs, wear and tear on their cars, license fees and other expenses.

While the day of your wedding may only be a few hours involvement, much time is spent in preparation of your big day. 💜
