Mohammad Shamsuzzaman Arafat, Bangladesh's premier triathlete, has achieved the country's highest achievement in the sport by coming in 11th place out of 427 participants in the Ironman Malaysia event that was held last Saturday. This is also his personal best timing in the endurance event.

Mohammad Shamsuzzaman Arafat, Bangladesh's premier triathlete, has achieved the country's highest achievement in the sport by coming in 11th place out of 427 participants in the Ironman Malaysia event that was held last Saturday. This is also his personal best timing in the endurance event.

Arafat's goal was to not only qualify for the Ironman World Championship, which will be held in October next year in the United States of America but also to win a trophy for Bangladesh. He fulfilled both of these dreams in Malaysia.

The triathlete took 10 hours, 31 minutes, and 31 seconds to complete the event's running, swimming, and cycling parts. This allowed him to finish in 2nd place in the age category (male 30-34) and 11th place overall.
