Wedding Planning can be stressful but finding your perfect professional wedding DJ shouldn't have to cause you additional stress.
Here are a few things you can do to ensure you minimize your risk selecting the right wedding DJ:
1) Make sure your DJ has liability insurance. Weird things can happen, and a professional business should carry insurance.
2) Ask for their business website and social media page.
3) Professional DJ's don't insist on cash and should accept a check without issue.
4) Look hard at their reviews. Customer feedback speaks volumes.
5) Make sure they provide you a signed written agreement that spells out exactly what is being provided.
6) Make sure your DJ has the ability to help you plan for your big day. Showing up and playing some music may work for a bar it doesn't work well for a wedding. Your DJ should have a vested interest in your event and the subsequent success of the event. Timeline development and music selection is key to a successful event.
7) If the price seems too good to be true then it probably is. Every year we receive a few calls from couples that have been ghosted by their low cost DJ that was a friend of a friend or someone's uncle who suddenly backed out. Unfortunately, they made a bad choice initially and they are out whatever money they paid their DJ and they are also burdened by the stress of the situation to find a reputable DJ at the last minute. I know of a few lower cost DJ's in the industry that will take a job to fill an open date only to cancel if they can book another date for a higher value. Eventually their name gets out there as a bad business but only after damage has been done to unknowing couples. Check out their reviews!
