My name is Brittany Schoonover and I am the hands and heart behind B. Leigh Handcrafted Design. When I’m not laying on my apartment floor surrounded by multiple creative projects that were inspired from god-knows-what, I can most likely be found at the beach loving my life. I have a creative soul that is influenced by the beautiful people in my life, modern trends or social stalking. During the da
y, I am a Social Media Community Manager for a digital agency in Philadelphia where I spend my time being the brand voice for various food and beverage clients all while brainstorming ideas that create memorable content that makes someone feel something. Let’s just say that I eat a lot of ice cream, hand model in a lot of recipe videos and cry at adorable stories customers share with me. At night, I basically do the same exact thing, except instead thinking in the eyes of my client’s vision, it is my own, still with the same goal of making someone feel something. Ever since I figured out I could actually draw, a shocking talent I discovered at the age of 21 because my mother told me I needed to find a hobby, I always knew I wanted to make things for other people and not myself. A little something to make someone smile or a gift that actually means something. Oh, and I should probably include one of the biggest influences--7 out of my 11 best friends from college got engaged within a year and a half. Yeah……….Fortunately for me, when I entered college I was basically initiated into a small gang of girls who I now call my forever best friends. Well, all of their boyfriends rallied together and made the executive decision to lock them down. Smart move, boys. Well, in came the flood of bridal showers, bachelorettes, gifts for the bride, gifts for the couple, gift from the bridesmaids, oh and the wedding itself. There is a hell of a lot of work behind a wedding and to my surprise, I had absolutely no idea. As soon as the engagements started happening, in came the “can you please make, XYZ”. Of course, I was more than happy to make things for my friends. Actually, I was thrilled. I had an excuse to make creative things for my friends. Well, let’s fast forward 4 years and here I am launching my own Etsy shop. This journey has been influenced by continuous encouragement (begging) from my friends and family, my boarder line annoying creative drive and a hell of a lot of bravery. If you’ve read down this far, then I truly appreciate you. I hope you find a product in my shop that you want to buy for a loved one, a friend or for yourself. Ya know, treat yo’ self—you deserve it.
