The Tractor Run on the 4th Feb in Newcestown is in aid of CUH cancer charity. This is in Memory of Tim Murphy who sadly lost his 3 year battle with liver cancer in Dec 2022. He received brilliant care from his Oncology Team at CUH, and was passionate about raising funds for cancer care and research. Here Tim is pictured at an open garden fundraiser for CUH in Summer 2022.

The inaugural Tim Murphy Memorial Tractor Run will take to the roads of Newcestown on Sunday 4th February next. Organised by his family in memory of farmer Tim Murphy from Templemartin who sadly lost his battle with liver cancer in December 2022. Tim was well known for his skill in farming, stone masonry and equestrian activities and he also had a keen interest in GAA.

Tim received his treatment from a brilliant oncology team in CUH and as a thank you gesture, Tim's family wish to help raise funds for cancer care services at CUH. These funds will also help CUH acquire specialised equipment which helps the absorption of chemotherapy for patients. This form of treatment is currently only available at the Mater Hospital in Dublin.

The Tractor run which will depart Newcestown Village on Sunday 4th February at 1.00pm is also open to Trucks and Vintage Cars. The route will see participants travel from Newcestown Village to Templemartin, then continue on to Crookstown Village and Beal na Blath where they will pass the Michael Collins Ambush site before returning to Newcestown Village where refreshments and entertainment will be provided in the Parish Hall.

A special bonus for the Tractor owners is that a "Dyno Tractor testing system" will be onsite where owners can test the performance of their Tractor for a modest fee.

Registration at Newcestown Hall will be at 12.30pm.
