Do what you Love, and Love what you do.

At 13 years old shooting and processing my own film with my grandfathers old Nikon, never did I imagine that I would genuinely enjoy and cherish capturing irreplaceable and special moments for other people. Like any relationship, Love doesn’t show itself at first, but if you wait for it and be patient, you’ll see it. That’s how I approach working with my clients. Capturing that special smirk, that look, that private moment when all your family + friends aren’t watching - that means something and you can feel it when you see it. It feels like capturing lightning in a bottle, in a photo.

Whether it’s an elopement, a wedding, or I’m hiding in the bushes for a surprise proposal acting like an over enthusiastic tourist at The Biltmore - it’s making sure to capture that special moment because that’s what makes it special, otherwise it’s just another photo.

“Are you for scuba?” // St. Croix Winter Scuba Trip 2023

Today, last year, I was in a much warmer place.

Last December I was lucky enough to go visit one of my life-long friends who just so happens to be a marine biologist and live on an island in the middle of the Caribbean. When says “this is your last chance…” for visiting, he’s usually on another continent the next time it comes up. I’ll spare you the details, but he lived on Saint Croix and dove for a large portion of his work in marine estuaries and the surrounding coral reefs of the USVI.

So, I knew what needed to happen. I immediately bought a camera housing so I was locked in, and then plane tickets. was inexplicably “down”, so we hopped on a plane and went to visit Hilly and .kraushaar ! Upon arrival, I was presented with a cold local beer before even leaving the airport, which set the tone for the week of island life.

With an island that is only about 22 miles long, you can imagine we drove up, down, and all around the island, checking off the “must-do” list of all the things we needed see, and a lot of the off-map spots that “Wash’a’shores” would never find without a local. Secluded rock beaches, secret coves, scrambling to get through volcanic rock fields and up high enough on the cliff wall before waves come crashing through again to potentially drag you want into the ocean - it was dreamy😍

Being virtually the same size our entire lives, I was able to borrow a wet suit from Hilly and go on a couple dives around the island checking out places they’ve been working on reef restoration and seeing the effects of climate change, poaching, and going to known spots on the ocean floor for specific wildlife to just sit and watch as they glide and dance through their world. We were lucky enough to have been amongst numerous giant leatherback turtles, sting rays, eels, even a small shark, and fish camouflaged so well that if you did a double take, they’re gone.

I’ll tell you what, I sure do Love a bad idea - because the good ones usually wind up like this.

Well, here it is. The Print Store is now Live - 50% of the proceeds benefiting Hurricane Helene Disaster Relief.

I’ve been asked over the years if I sell prints of some of the images I post, and I have never made it an option to the public, until now.

These are images I have collected over the years from various adventures, events and experiences from around the world, with many specifically highlighting our beloved Blue Ridge Mountains, and Pisgah National Forest.

50% of All proceeds from any sale in the print store will go to a Local organization like , Old Fort Strong Endurance Festival, Help Marshall, and any others that emerge during the recovery process to ensure your contributions directly impact our community.

Your donations will go to help real people and will make a difference in their lives. You are also directly impacting our local economy by helping keep a small business stay afloat while we navigate this difficult process.

I will continue to add more prints to the store as I sift through hundred of albums since 2015. If there’s an image that is not currently available that you know I have, just let me know and I’ll hunt it down.

This week sent me a message asking for his favorite photo from his winning run at Rampage in 2022 to get it printed…

It had always been a dream of mine to be at Rampage as a kid, but 13 year old me thought I’d be riding in it. At that point, I hadn’t figured out just how big that terrain is. When I moved out of my parents house years ago, my Mom kept the pages from of and at the very first Rampage that I had ripped out in 2001 and pinned to the wall. Moms are always super sentimental and she told me how much I used to fantasize about being there, so it was really special to keep those memories.

Last year I shifted the focus of my small business back to being more locally focused, working with couples and small business so that I could be a bigger part of the Local Asheville Community rather than traveling for work. As an adult and (I hate referring to myself as this)a professional photographer, I have been lucky enough to have been to and shot a few Rampage events, producing some of my own personal favorite pictures I’ve ever taken. To have a rider who’s not only won but left his mark on the sport send me a message like that, right now. Timing couldn’t have been better for a little uplifting.

It’s the little things…

Thanks to everyone who’s reached out, everyone who’s donated, everyone who’s caring, people who are donating their entire furnished homes to those who don’t have one anymore, and everyone who’s uprooted their lives to come help people they don’t even know. The positivity coming from within our small community is truly incredible and inspiring.

A little motivation goes a very very long way right now. Thank you, Brett. 🙏

“I am my brothers’ and my sisters’ keeper” // 4.27.24

A privelage, an honor, and simply a really fun event to be a part of that truly is for anyone and everyone. Each year on April 27th, puts on This ride to pay homage to the Alabamians who lost their lives during the devastating tornadoes that ripped through Alabama in 2011.

Money raised from this event goes to support The Alabama Governors Emergency Relief Fund, which provides funds for natural disaster relief and improved safety from natural disasters for communities across the state. Each year, Bo hopes to inspire Alabamians and people from all over to lend their neighbors a helping hand. This year, riders from 31 states were represented.

Since its inception, has raised over $2.1 Million for Alabama communities in need.

There aren’t many events that I have been to that are this community driven, supported, and inclusive. The measures taken to ensure every person can participate is through the roof and wouldn’t be possible without the support from the local Police Department, & the massive team of volunteers from the community who donate their time to build & support their community, and making friends along the way.

It’s an easy one to remember - April 27th - see you there next year!

Spring is in the air // After I noticed her picking up some flowers that had been falling off a nearby tree while we were taking pictures with the family, I asked her if she wanted to be a princess, who her favorite princess was, what she would do if she were a princess, and if she was willing to show me.

From Dusty and bone dry, to full on slip n slide, that eventually become hero dirt by race time. Typical weather for a mountain bike race - rain at some point.

The biggest take-away from the weekend was the kids - hoooo-lllyyy!! They’re rippin’!!

Tried something new aiming to get everyone in practice and race runs.
