Wouldn't it be nice to just sail away into the sunset with your fiance right now? ⛵😌
I wish I could say that we just need to pull through the next 3 weeks with these new restrictions and then things will go back to normal.
We really don't know what's going to happen next, but I 𝘥𝘰 know that there are a lot of couples who feel like they are in limbo and just want to get out of it.

The other day, I talked with the owner, Layson, and Manager, Jamie, of .ridge about how we can help couples through this wedding season. Most people don't realize how much wedding vendors are 𝚎𝚖𝚘𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚊𝚕𝚕𝚢 𝚒𝚗𝚟𝚎𝚜𝚝𝚎𝚍 in our jobs. Cancellations, postponements, and downsizing don't just affect us financially, but also emotionally.

When you are hiring your team of wedding vendors, choose vendors who are genuinely passionate about you and your wedding. Because they will give you their everything. They will go above and beyond to make sure your wedding is still special. Even in the middle of a global pandemic. There are many benefits to hiring a second shooter for your wedding day. One of them is that you will have more time to capture getting ready photos, just like this one.

While you are getting ready, one photographer will be there to photograph you, and the other will be with your fiance. This gives the photographer time to focus on you instead of rushing and worrying about not getting enough photos before they have to leave.

They are with you all morning, capturing every precious moment with the loved ones that surround you. Because nothing is better than reliving these irreplaceable moments through photos forever.

This wedding was one for the books. Not because gathering restrictions changed just a week before the wedding 😷, or because of the major snowfall ❄️that happened that day leaving the roads a sheet of ice.. or any of the 1000 other things that were thrown at us just days/hours before the big day. This wedding was special because of the couple and the love that they share for each other.⠀
⠀
As a wedding planner, I always get to see the cute little things that makes a couple's love special. I should be used to it by now, right? 𝕎𝕖𝕝𝕝 𝕀'𝕞 𝕟𝕠𝕥 😭!! I'm not even an emotional person. But when I work so closely with couples I meet (or even friends I've known for years) going through all the ups and downs and then actually taking the time to enjoy and appreciate each other on their wedding day.. 𝐼 𝒿𝓊𝓈𝓉 𝒸𝒶𝓃'𝓉 😩😭⠀

This couple went through so much to get to this day. And the challenges just kept getting worse as the wedding approached. But it didn't stop this groom from being amazed at how 𝕤𝕥𝕦𝕟𝕟𝕚𝕟𝕘 his bride looked. I caught him 𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 snapping quick pics of her on his phone whenever he had a chance, and just admiring her. Sure he kicked around her dress a bit (in an attempt to be "helpful" 😒), but he also almost fell on the slippery road trying to help her get into the car safely 🥺. There were 𝒮𝒪 many more cute moments like this that I can't wait to share when we get more photos. This is just a little sneak peek to give you a little glimmer of light to take with you into your weekend ✨⠀

One thing I find that is often misunderstood when it comes to booking your wedding photographer is the 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐫. Most couples think that it is dependent their guest count. While there are many aspects of your wedding that are affected by guest count (like your venue, food, and decor), whether or not you should have a second shooter isn't necessarily one of them. ⠀

These are the 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐫 for photography OR videography at your wedding:⠀
⠀
𝟏. 𝐈𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 🕐 ⠀
Both get your own shooter for getting ready photos, solely focused on you so that they can get plenty of photos without having to worry about rushing to the other room (or house) to get shots of your partner. The second shooter can also help make decor/detailed shots, and family photos go a lot faster, which means more time for more photos!⠀

𝟐. 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 = 𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐬⠀
Throughout the rest of the day (after getting ready photos), the second shooter works to capture different angles of your interactions. So if you do a first look/during your ceremony/tal3a, they would be able to capture both of your reactions because one will focus on the bride, and the other on the groom. They can get wide shots and close up shots from the exact same moment. They will of course get shots of your guests in between, but their main focus will always be on you.⠀

𝟑. 𝐎𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝⠀
Two shooters means double the chance of getting beautiful shots of emotional moments that cannot be replicated (first look, first dance, close family interactions, etc).

Basically, a second shooter means you will get more photos with different angles. So if you can fit it into your budget, I 𝘏𝘐𝘎𝘏𝘓𝘠 recommend getting a second shooter and I think your photographer/videographer will agree 😉

"What 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘭𝘺 do you do?" - A question I get often.

I'm a wedding planner. I take care of the logistics related to planning a wedding (budget development, recommend/book vendors, create a design plan with your decorator, create detailed timelines, etc)... but it's so much more than that. I became a planner after seeing so many of my loved ones struggle with their own weddings. A time that should've been one of the happiest in their lives became almost a nightmare that they just wanted to get over with. The thing is, it wasn't usually the planning process that was tough. Because in our, community everyone knows each other and typically the same vendors are booked for most weddings. So the planning process seemed easy. But when it came to the day (or month/week) of the wedding, that's when things start to get overwhelming. Nerves and emotions are higher than ever, add pressure from family 𝘈𝘕𝘋 you still have to take care of all last minute details with the 10+ vendors you've hired. On top of that, you're probably moving into a new place and taking care of all the logistics that come with that.

What do you do at that point?

Imagine having someone who is completely on YOUR side. Someone who can take all the logistics off of your shoulders and make sure everything you planned for comes together perfectly so that you can focus on what's important: soaking in every moment of this irreplaceable time with everyone you love.

Love is in the air... again! This pandemic might have slowed us down a bit, but it hasn't stopped us!
I've been having the best time working out alternative wedding plans with my couples. I understand that it's not realistic for everyone to postpone a whole wedding to an unknown time in the future. So we are switching things up and planning intimate weddings that will be even more memorable and special - while following AHS guidelines, of course!

Last week we received a heavy update from our chief medical officer regarding summer weddings. Today, the relaunch strategy was released to give us something to look forward to. Many of you have asked where you can find these updates so I have attached the link to my bio.

The day after one of my best friends’ wedding, her mom surprised me with a few pieces of what was left of their wedding cake 🍰. I felt so special knowing that were thinking of me and I still remember how yummy it tasted 🤤

A few weeks ago we heard from our Chief Medical Officer that Alberta would reach its peak of the virus right around this time. Now we are told that we won’t reach our peak until beginning to mid May. This means that we’ve managed to slow down the spread of infection. While that is great news, it also means we won’t know more about how much longer gathering restrictions will be in place until another month or so…
So what should you do about your wedding plans from now until then? Put everything aside and take a break. Spend this time focusing on yourself! Stay connected with your loved ones and get to everything you've been putting aside for so long because you haven't had the time. Even if that means binge watching Netflix 🍿

What does a wedding planner do?

"What 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘭𝘺 do you do?" - A question I get often. I'm a wedding planner. I take care of the logistics related to planning a wedding (budget development, recommend/book vendors, create a design plan with your decorator, create detailed timelines, etc)... but it's so much more than that. I became a planner after seeing so many of my loved ones struggle with their own weddings. A time that should've been one of the happiest in their lives became almost a nightmare that they just wanted to get over with. The thing is, it wasn't usually the planning process that was tough. Because in our, community everyone knows each other and typically the same vendors are booked for most weddings. So the planning process seemed easy. But when it came to the day (or month/week) of the wedding, that's when things start to get overwhelming. Nerves and emotions are higher than ever, add pressure from family 𝘈𝘕𝘋 you still have to take care of all last minute details with the 10+ vendors you've hired. On top of that, you're probably moving into a new place and taking care of all the logistics that come with that. What do you do at that point? Imagine having someone who is completely on YOUR side.
