How cute is this family? Honestly it was really cold on this day but these girls took it like champs in their dresses and skirt. They covered in blankets between shots. And yet we still managed to get real genuine smiles.

Merry Christmas to my family to yours.

December was crazy. It went so fast. Honestly I think that from August on the weeks by with a blink of an eye. I can’t believe it’s Christmas Eve tomorrow. I think it’s getting kind of cliché to say that Christmas is my favorite holiday. So I will say this. Christmas Eve is one of my favorite holidays. It’s when my family gets together all day and we go big and it dnd up laughing and having with each other. Life is all about moments. I’m thankful that i am able to capture them with a camera. I hope your holiday season has been crazy fun and you were able to take time to take mental pictures of you and your family this year.

✨Things I learned when taking cold weather photoshoots✨

There is something so beautiful about a a snowy family photoshoot. It’s magical! (Sorry I seem to be using that word a lot.) However, it is cold and usually kids won’t be having it. We went up a canyon to get these shots. I personally was unprepared. I was cold and those girls were cold in their dresses. Our mishap of only getting 15-30 minutes of light at this shoot turned out to be a real blessing. Yeah, there was still complaining but we got in. We smiled. We played. And we got back in the warm car. If I learned anything if you have cold weather with little kids is always always schedule a short shoot.

This photoshoot was special because it was my first down by the tidal basin. It was also of my cousin’s family. They were such troopers braving the cold morning and smiling anyway. Family photos are difficult during the cold but constantly moving helped us get through it.

I wish I could express how grateful I am to be a photographer. I love seeing families of all ages and stages come together. I get to capture what you all were like today, in this moment. My photos get put on walls, used as cellphone wallpaper, and sent out on holiday cards. I love family photography.

Life is pretty busy. This was first fall mini of this year and it seems like the year is speeding by. I changed the location of this shoot last minute so it would be a closer drive. It worked out perfectly for me because o also got to attend my daughter’s fall festival for a bit. I laugh because it was just a random trail I had found that week when exploring but it turned out to be gorgeous weather, gorgeous trees, and a gorgeous family. So thankful that I get to do this everyday. Thank you for the support and kindness you give me and I hope you can see the joy this brings me in the experience of your shoot and in every picture that I take. 🙏
