The season is well and truly over now, and I've done my standard thank you post to all those fantastic people and places who've been a part of the music and fun antics throughout summer season 2024 😉👍🏼
I'm now in partial relax mode and I'm recuperating slowly but surely and I'll set up for rehearsal mode and begin work on the tracks etc hopefully in the next three weeks, which is a lot longer break than I wanted or normally have, but current personal circumstances dictate a longer break than normal , but watch this space for updates and hopefully I can upload a few videos etc to my YouTube channel over the winter 🤞🏼🙏😉👍🏼🇬🇷🎤
Now, there are a few nameless individuals who have been a massive part of what I do, and without their musical input, experience , imagination , listening ears, criticism , feedback and the long hours and invaluable musical help, a lot of the stuff I do probably wouldn't happen. They seek no credit or publicity ( even though I have mentioned them on my YouTube channel) but they know who they are and as always I thank them for their ongoing help and support 🙏🏼... This does include my ever present and long suffering wife ( cmon ,she's married to me and has to put up with me and my weird sense of humour everyday)🤣 and she's my biggest fan and harshest critic who has stood by me through the good, the bad , and the god dam ugly and backed me to the hilt when others didn't ... oh and occasionally suggests some cracking tunes for me as well 😉🤣🤣
As always, you can occasionally find the extended no holes barred updates and casual observations in the usual place 😉 ( for those privileged to have been granted access 😉)
As soon as I've confirmed what's happening next summer... Oxi Day commemorates the rejection by the Greek prime minister Ioannis Metaxas of the ultimatum made by Italian dictator Benito Mussolini on 28 October 1940 and the subsequent Hellenic counterattack against the invading Italian forces at the mountains of Pindus during the Greco-Italian War and Greek resistance during the Axis occupation.
Shortly after 03:00 am on 28 October 1940, the Italian ambassador to Greece, Emanuele Grazzi, came from a party in the Italian embassy in Athens and visited Metaxas. He presented Metaxas with an ultimatum: allow Axis forces to enter Greek territory and occupy certain unspecified "strategic locations" or otherwise face war. Metaxas allegedly answered with a single laconic word: όχι (No!). However, his actual reply was, “Alors, c’est la guerre!” (Then it is war!)
In response to Metaxas's refusal, Italian troops stationed in Albania, then an Italian protectorate, attacked the Greek border at 05:30 am – the beginning of Greece's participation in World War II (see Greco-Italian War and the Battle of Greece).
On the morning of 28 October, the Greek population took to the streets, irrespective of political affiliation, shouting 'ohi'. From 1942, it was celebrated as Ohi Day, first mostly among the members of the resistance and after the war by all the Greeks.

I held off as long as I could to post this one as I was hoping to be able to squeeze one last Irish house Stalis farewell, but sadly that's not to be 😔
Anyway, as I look back on another eventful, crazy, funny and occasionally strange music and fun filled seventh year in Stalis I can look back and smile and be thankful for the opportunity to come back and entertain the fantastic people in my own unique crazy way 😉😜😂👍🏻
I have to give a big shout-out to each and everyone who's came to see me, those brave ladies and gentlemen who volunteered to be a part of the evening, those who foot tapped, hand clapped, finger clicked , table banged through the show and those who just sat and listened and enjoyed the evening.
Again I got to catch up with old friends (You know you are 😉) especially those who brought me gifts 😉👍🏻,those who heckled , those who had the p**s ripped out of them by me and gave it back😉 and to those new friends I've made this season ( the JBV experience virgins) who now get what i do and why I do it , and never judged a book by it's cover or reading other people's opinions 😉👍🏻👏👏👏 and I humbly thank you all for your continued support and friendship and especially for your participation in the JBV experience 😉 🙏💚🇬🇷
No final farewell message would be complete without a massive massive heartfelt thank you to all at the best beach bar in Stalis and the hard working team that drives the engine, both daytime and nighttime staff ... George's Angels 💚💚💚 so, thank you for everything you've done for me throughout summer 2024 as coworkers and as friends and also as your Godfather who christened you 😉 so much love and respect to Jan Sereinig Sophie Angel Sheill and my amazing partner in mischief and madness and she who ensures I abide by " The Law" 😉 DJ Madhead Holly Noble 💚💚💚 as a team we've had some great nights, we've had some strange, crazy , bizzare and mad , busy and fairly quiet ones, but we've laughed through them all and kept going as the customers happiness and entertainment was always a priority 😉👍🏻👏👏👏👏👏👏.. Someone asked me just before season ended in Gouves this year if I did any Paolo.. I said no , not really but I'd dabbled with a couple of his over the years ... I love this tune, this is an upbeat version ... Weirdly enough, it's a bit back to front as the finished version with mic is first and the raw version without mic etc and my first attempt is after it 😂🇬🇷🎤

What can I say as another season has ended at the brilliant Central Bar Gouves apart from what a fantastic 2nd season I had ( despite me not being able to do a farewell to summer 2024 due to illness and I actually feel really bad about that🥹)
Anyway, I got to catch up with great friends I made at the start of my Gouves adventure ( you know who you are 😉) and hopefully strengthened that bond, and I got to make some new ones this season who bought into the who JBV experience and enjoyed their evening of music and fun antics with me ... Especially the hecklers..old and new.. you definitely know who you are 😉 🤣 😉🙏💚🇬🇷.. and I humbly thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the welcome, the craic and the p**s taking and just enjoying yourself at my nights...I've loved every minute of it 💚🇬🇷🎤
I have to say a special thank you to the boss... Kristo Menga and Nici Mar for asking me back for a second season to do what I do and for that I'm eternally grateful and humbled by their loyalty and support given to me over the two seasons and also for their friendship that extends beyond the workplace and that loyalty and support will always be repaid and the friendship reciprocated ( yes I've been asked back for round 3 in 2025 😉)🙏🇬🇷
A massive shout out to The Spice boys Αλσεγκι Μπρχν and my missing breakfast partner Kladji 😉🤣 for everything they've done and for the craic( in English and Greek) 😉🤣🤣.. top lads and hard working as well and finally to my good friend The Barfly 👍🏻 who has been a rock and became probably my biggest fsn in Gouves 😱😱😉 without his help and traffic duties some of what I do wouldn't have been possible...well it would, but he makes it easier cause he's a top guy and that's what friends do 😉👏👏👏

Firstly I like to thank all the amazing Drakonaki family Maria Drakonaki , Litsa, Mama, Big Manos, little Manos and Paul at the Alexandros Hotel Sissi for another cracking season. You've been not only my employer for over ten years (as I've been there in one form or another) , but you've also been my good friends for a lot longer... And that's a bond that's hard to break 💚🇬🇷 and I humbly thank you for your friendship and especially for asking me back this season ,for another solo season ( #7 on my own 😉) to entertain, confuse, amuse , occasionally abuse , frustrate, educate and enjoy the company and the craic with the wonderful people who visit the best family run hotel in Sissi .
It's been a long hard season for all and as a team we've had some great nights ,some quiet nights, some weird nights and some mega loud crazy nights 😂 😂 but as we say "it is what it is".
Here's hoping I'm asked back for solo season #8 😉👍🏻🙏🇬🇷🎤.. I wish you all the best and may the winter be a peaceful , restful, beautiful and healthy one for all the family. I'll see you soon for coffee 😉👍🏻... Paul's still paying tho😂🤣
Secondly..I'd like to thank all the amazing guests who've come to see me this summer 2024 , those who've taken part in the quizzes, the PYCR games nights and especially those who came and joined in the hand clapping, foot tapping, table banging, finger clicking hands in the air like you just don't care music and fun antics 😉... Remember ,the pleasure has and will always be mine to have met and entertained each and every one of you, to my old friends who've returned ( gluttons for punishment) 😉🤣🤣and to the new ones I've made on this season's journey... It's been a blast. So until we meet again , and you're feeling a tad blue ....take a lesson from the Penguins of Madagascar and do what they do... 🐧🐧🐧🐧 Just😁👋😁👋🇬🇷🎤

JBV update...🇬🇷🎤
Massive thank you to everyone who left a heartfelt / insult / sarcastic / funny comment under my last update, I've read them all 😉👍🏻🇬🇷🎤
So, I'm currently under my medical practitioner's orders ( basically do as you're told Jim or you won't get better asap) which involves high dosage of nuclear strength antibiotics (again) to help my painful breathing issues and my strange liver function and high anti inflammatory blood markers, I've to take lots of fluids (no alcohol for ten days minimum), Depon and bizarrely enough I've an Insanely weird amount of tiredness that creeps in , that involves being in bed by 8.00pm 💤😴 every night and all under the watchful eye of my in-house nurse/ carer ... Ooh and Molly the cat 😻😉
I will do as I always do and thank the venues ( those I can) in individual posts just shortly but for now I'd like to thank those who called me personally (you know who you are.. those who didn't, it's duly noted 😉😂😂) and offered me more than just moral support ... it won't be forgotten moving forward 👍🏻🙏💚😉
For now I need to concentrate on beating this horrible bugs bastard arse Into submission ( Tbh, even the doctors are baffled by it) and getting back into fighting fit mode to enjoy the winter and the downtime, and start work on next season's sets, and strangely enough that involves doing as I'm told 😱😭😢😂😂... So for the avoidance of doubt ( much too the annoyance of a few) I haven't gone away... For those who are Interested , I'll update you as soon as I can as to my progress... If you don't hear from me by tomorrow evening at the latest , send a search party, and an ambulance 🚑 or alternatively send me a keg of Guinness attached to an IV drip😉👍🏻😂😂🇬🇷🎤..until then , do as the penguins of Madagascar do 🐧🐧🐧🐧😁👋😁👋

Sadly tonight there won't be any music and fun antics at the Irish house Stalis
As you may well know I've been pushing through the barriers in order to deliver my usual fill on nights , but it appears the headaches
and fever bouts as well as the dizziness have taken their toll on my old body 😔
After consultation with the venue and explained my current situation , it was deemed best to cancel.
At the moment I'm struggling to breathe properly and I'm in pain when I do, so singing is definitely out the window until I get to the bottom of the issue which is ashame as my upper register has just come back from holiday 😭😞🤣. Hopefully it's nothing too serious🙏👍🏻 and if given the all clear I'll be back live and loud asap.
I'll keep you updated when I can ... Meanwhile..more tests incoming 🙏😱😱😉🤣🇬🇷🎤

Hindsight is a wonderful thing ..but hey ho , me I just do as I'm requested by the venue 😉😂
So we went for the 9.00pm start and tbh it was very quiet, but by 9.45-10.00pm ( my usual start time) we had people coming in and had a busy bar 👍🏻but I'm half way through the set by then ... So apologies to those who turned up later expecting a 10pm start and expecting me to go later but.. Tbh , People really need to check social media updates and the board outside 😂😂
Anyway , it was a fairly subdued affair but soon we had the hand clapping, foot tapping hands in the air music and fun antics in full swing ( with occasional visits to the golf club) 😜🤣🤣
Again I chose to concentrate on the songs and having the craic and bypass the volunteer section but a massive thank you to everyone who took part in the full audience participation section... Top hands in the air like you just don't care clapping along to a Sweet classic 😉👍🏻👏👏👏👏
Big shout out to Beardy bu**er 😜..who along with his table were definitely enjoying the evening and the look on his Beardy face when I said last song 😱😭😭.. he pointed to his watch and said ... "You're finished now , it's only 11.00"😱 .. I pointed to my invisible one and said .. I started at 9 my friend . I won't type his reply to that but my response was to show him my magic trick using my towel, my fingers and the mystery of multiplication and separation 😉🖕✌️😂😂
So thank you to everyone who came and joined in the music and fun antics and to those who politely listened and showed their appreciation ( especially those who gifted me a Guinness 😉) ... As always massive thank you to the best team George's Angels 💚💚💚 who as always worked the bar effortlessly 😉👍🏻
So in summing up .. please read all social media updates from myself and the venues regarding start times ..that way nobody will be disappointed ( except those who go somewhere else first and turn up late ) 😉😂😂😂😂As soon as I know full details on my next visit, I'll post them in here as will the venue 😉👍🏻🇬🇷🎤

Ok, so after popping more pills than a pharmacist, a power nap , my usual warm up routine and a prayer 🙏 it was time for my usual Monday night at the fantastic Central Bar Gouves.
After a 🎤" technical hitch" ( which involved a car journey at high speed) 😂 and still back in time to begin my night of music and fun antics 😉👍🏻 we had a busy bar inside and few outside in the cheap seats 😉😂😂 and it was showtime 😉👍🏻 The night took a strange twist at the end when I was told that a certain lady was adamant I wasn't called Jim Brown and I was Greek..until I started speaking ( You know who you are 😉) 😜😂😂
After the usual slow easy build up and trying to persuade them that the hand clapping sections were in nearly every song we eventually got there and it wasn't long before we had our first dancer's... Let me introduce you to you.. " The crazy loud Canadians" who were an absolute pleasure to have met and have the craic with 😉👍🏻👏👏and for the sake of anonymity we'll call them Crazy George and Priscilla queen of the desert ( Asian version..her words not mine) 😉😂😂😂..but I'll come back to them .
I have to say , there was a rebel group in the cheap seats who didn't like it being called that ( poor dears) so in the Interests of fairness and equality I renamed it " The Dress Circle" and the " Royal Box" ( depending on which side you were sitting in ) 😂.
Anyway , so after a lot of hand clapping and foot tapping it was volunteer time 😉. First up the ladies and we actually managed to get five amazing fun loving ladies up for the craic. So after the formal introductions, and the usual instructions given and the audience briefed on their role in proceedings..off we went into a Robert Palmer table banging classic to which the ladies gave a lesson in freestyling which included the two loonies to my right down on their knees in a rock goddess pose with head and hand movements straight out of the Ka*****ra 😱😱😉😂😂😂 but to be fair Priscilla queen of the desert was showing us why she's queen of the desert and the other crazy ladies followed suit in a freestyle frenzy and occasionally sticking to the routine 😂..ladies your were fanf**kintastic 😉 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
Next up was the men. Now it was too much trouble to get six brave men which included our crazy Canadian George 😉 and again after a brief introduction the hats were gifted in accordance to their persona as deemed appropriate by me 😉 👍🏻
Now , last night the guys gave one of the best renditions in a while .. their timing was excellent and the audience was brilliant with everyone joining in from start to finish.. so a big shout out to our leader of the pack .. our Policeman "PC Phil McCrevice" who's definitely banged a few up in his time 😉, to our Army 🪖 man " Private Parts" who's almost certainly saluted a few flagpoles in his career 😉 our Leather biker boy " "Dusty Roads" who's definitely got a lifetime membership for the Blue Oyster club and almost certainly swung from a few handlebars in his journey 😉, to our Red Indian " Big Chief Sh****ng Bull" who definitely scalped a few with his big chopper 🪓 😉
Our Builder " Phil McCracken" who without a doubt couldn't fix it with the tool he has but he'll certainly give it a go after he's given you an estimate 😉 and our Brokeback Mountain man.. Crazy Canadian George on his trusty steed.. who has 💯 without a doubt been in more rodeo positions and touched more rusty sheriff's badges than John Wayne 😉😂😂
Guy's you were absolutely fanf**kintastic 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
So after a quick UB40 number it was straight into the full audience participation section.. massive thank you to everyone who wanted to rule the world..even those on the now renamed cheap seats took part 😉 🌍 👏👏 👏 👏 👏
Then it was straight into the standard Monkees double whammy and as always happens eventually time catches up and after 2 ¼ hours straight through of high octane full on music and fun antics it was time to end the evening with that annoying Neil Diamond classic that everyone loves to hate and hates to love 😉😂😂😂
So ..can heartfelt thank you to everyone who came , who spoke to me afterwards and once again for the humbling comments that make what I do worthwhile 💚🙏🙏
Big thanks to Kristo Menga Nici Mar and The Spice boys for keeping the drinks flowing and to my good friend The Barfly for his heckling including the fekin surgical mask 😷, for his traffic management and for just being there to support me as he always does 👍🏻💚🇬🇷🎤
