Today I learned of the passing of a man I had the privilege of performing with as the front man in "Bad Language" pop ,rock and blues band here on Crete many many years ago. We played many gigs and had many laughs and a few tantrums along the way 😂 after we went our separate ways, I would see him out and about in Sissi and we'd chat and occasionally have a coffee/ beer and a catch up. I went a few times to see him play in Peggy Gordons and have the craic with him. Rest in peace Lenny 🙏🏼 keep playing that guitar up there my friend 😞🇬🇷🎤🙏🏼
I found a few old photos from the band line up back in the day and thought it would be rude not to share them as it is part of our history and friendship.. Lenny as always doing his thing 🇬🇷🎸

Just a quick update, it's New year's Eve,Tuesday 31st of December 2024 ..and a busy day ahead for me , anyway...Sadly our old cat , beautiful Molly 😿 crossed rainbow bridge on Monday afternoon 😞 as it was her time to run free and reunite with her brother and sisters.
So as we approach the end of the old year and prepare to bring in the new, I hope and pray 🙏🏼 that 2025 is a bigger , brighter and better year for each and every one of you 🙏🏼
May all your dreams and wishes come true , take the time to share every moment you can with your loved ones but always make time for yourself, make as many new memories as you can and cherish the ones you've made already. Look back fondly but look forward with anticipation, so live, laugh, cry and love, as life's too short not to enjoy the journey we're all on.
Your path may take you on an adventure, so never be afraid to take a risk, make mistakes, make that hard decision and learn and grow from that, and there'll be ups and downs, twists and turns , so enjoy the journey before it's too late... Have a blessed day and a fantastic evening and on the stroke of midnight , bring in the New year in style ... Make sure there's music 🎵🎶🎼.. and lots of it .. oh and raise a glass to absent friends 😉💚🇬🇷.

Trip to the vets today to pick up our old lady Molly the mog 😻( if you've ever spoken to me at length in any of the venues then no doubt I've told you about her.. can't help it she's a lovely old furball 😻) and to get an update from the vet on her health and how we keep her going as we hopefully help her celebrate turning 23 on NY Day..that's the equivalent 108 human years 😱😱😱😉🙏🏼.
Anyway, I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas day with your loved ones. It's a very wet and windy day here where I am ..I hope the weather is better wherever you are and I hope you have a fantastic weekend and keep smiling 😁 😉🇬🇷🎤

Well it's Christmas eve and I'm sure most , if not all of you are preparing for a busy and hopefully a fantastic Christmas day with your loved ones , your friends and families. But please do take a moment to think of those who will be spending it alone and those less fortunate as others and to keep those who we've sadly lost this year in your thoughts and prayers and raise a glass in their memory 🙏🏼
I hope you all have an amazing Christmas day making memories and exchanging gifts and love with those who matter in your lives💚🇬🇷
So from me JBV, i send you my love and Christmas wishes to each and every one of you who's followed my humble page, and to those who've supported me from day one and those who've only recently just discovered me and what I do in making music and fun with the hand clapping, foot tapping, table banging, finger clicking hands in the air like you just don't care antics 😉 and here's to hopefully doing it all again in summer 2025... Session number three over so a wee stretch of the legs , bit of fresh air and of course a coffee is the order of the day... So, the soundproofing seems to be effective as still no complaints from the neighbours..but it's early days yet 😉👍🏼🤣🤣
I think I've managed to put two new ones together complete with backing vocals ( modern technology..it's amazing what you can do to the human voice 😂) that I'm happy with , mind you I did spend most of the day yesterday working on them, but until you sing them live and loud to get a feel for them and make sure you get key and tempo spot on then you just don't know for sure. Definitely a few minor possibly major tweaks needed to a couple of others that are definitely a work in progress and as always it's about getting the voice working and back Into some sort of shape.
Onwards and upwards as they say 😉👍🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Ok .. so we're settled in and I've soundproofed as best I can , and I've had my first 1½hr practice to get the Vocal cords back moving after a lengthy rest. So far no neighbours complaining ( that I know off ) 😉🙏🏼🤣and no door being chapped either so all good in the very small hood 😉🙏🏼👍🏼🤣🤣 Always a little hard to get going after resting them for a few weeks but hey ho . So a few more gentle sessions needed to get them fully flexible before thinking about working on new tracks, then hopefully it's full steam ahead 🙏🏼🙏🏼🇬🇷🎤😉

The season is well and truly over now, and I've done my standard thank you post to all those fantastic people and places who've been a part of the music and fun antics throughout summer season 2024 😉👍🏼
I'm now in partial relax mode and I'm recuperating slowly but surely and I'll set up for rehearsal mode and begin work on the tracks etc hopefully in the next three weeks, which is a lot longer break than I wanted or normally have, but current personal circumstances dictate a longer break than normal , but watch this space for updates and hopefully I can upload a few videos etc to my YouTube channel over the winter 🤞🏼🙏😉👍🏼🇬🇷🎤
Now, there are a few nameless individuals who have been a massive part of what I do, and without their musical input, experience , imagination , listening ears, criticism , feedback and the long hours and invaluable musical help, a lot of the stuff I do probably wouldn't happen. They seek no credit or publicity ( even though I have mentioned them on my YouTube channel) but they know who they are and as always I thank them for their ongoing help and support 🙏🏼... This does include my ever present and long suffering wife ( cmon ,she's married to me and has to put up with me and my weird sense of humour everyday)🤣 and she's my biggest fan and harshest critic who has stood by me through the good, the bad , and the god dam ugly and backed me to the hilt when others didn't ... oh and occasionally suggests some cracking tunes for me as well 😉🤣🤣
As always, you can occasionally find the extended no holes barred updates and casual observations in the usual place 😉 ( for those privileged to have been granted access 😉)
As soon as I've confirmed what's happening next summer... Oxi Day commemorates the rejection by the Greek prime minister Ioannis Metaxas of the ultimatum made by Italian dictator Benito Mussolini on 28 October 1940 and the subsequent Hellenic counterattack against the invading Italian forces at the mountains of Pindus during the Greco-Italian War and Greek resistance during the Axis occupation.
Shortly after 03:00 am on 28 October 1940, the Italian ambassador to Greece, Emanuele Grazzi, came from a party in the Italian embassy in Athens and visited Metaxas. He presented Metaxas with an ultimatum: allow Axis forces to enter Greek territory and occupy certain unspecified "strategic locations" or otherwise face war. Metaxas allegedly answered with a single laconic word: όχι (No!). However, his actual reply was, “Alors, c’est la guerre!” (Then it is war!)
In response to Metaxas's refusal, Italian troops stationed in Albania, then an Italian protectorate, attacked the Greek border at 05:30 am – the beginning of Greece's participation in World War II (see Greco-Italian War and the Battle of Greece).
On the morning of 28 October, the Greek population took to the streets, irrespective of political affiliation, shouting 'ohi'. From 1942, it was celebrated as Ohi Day, first mostly among the members of the resistance and after the war by all the Greeks.
