The season is well and truly over now, and I've done my standard thank you post to all those fantastic people and places who've been a part of the music and fun antics throughout summer season 2024 😉👍🏼
I'm now in partial relax mode and I'm recuperating slowly but surely and I'll set up for rehearsal mode and begin work on the tracks etc hopefully in the next three weeks, which is a lot longer break than I wanted or normally have, but current personal circumstances dictate a longer break than normal , but watch this space for updates and hopefully I can upload a few videos etc to my YouTube channel over the winter 🤞🏼🙏😉👍🏼🇬🇷🎤
Now, there are a few nameless individuals who have been a massive part of what I do, and without their musical input, experience , imagination , listening ears, criticism , feedback and the long hours and invaluable musical help, a lot of the stuff I do probably wouldn't happen. They seek no credit or publicity ( even though I have mentioned them on my YouTube channel) but they know who they are and as always I thank them for their ongoing help and support 🙏🏼... This does include my ever present and long suffering wife ( cmon ,she's married to me and has to put up with me and my weird sense of humour everyday)🤣 and she's my biggest fan and harshest critic who has stood by me through the good, the bad , and the god dam ugly and backed me to the hilt when others didn't ... oh and occasionally suggests some cracking tunes for me as well 😉🤣🤣
As always, you can occasionally find the extended no holes barred updates and casual observations in the usual place 😉 ( for those privileged to have been granted access 😉)
As soon as I've confirmed what's happening next summer... Oxi Day commemorates the rejection by the Greek prime minister Ioannis Metaxas of the ultimatum made by Italian dictator Benito Mussolini on 28 October 1940 and the subsequent Hellenic counterattack against the invading Italian forces at the mountains of Pindus during the Greco-Italian War and Greek resistance during the Axis occupation.
Shortly after 03:00 am on 28 October 1940, the Italian ambassador to Greece, Emanuele Grazzi, came from a party in the Italian embassy in Athens and visited Metaxas. He presented Metaxas with an ultimatum: allow Axis forces to enter Greek territory and occupy certain unspecified "strategic locations" or otherwise face war. Metaxas allegedly answered with a single laconic word: όχι (No!). However, his actual reply was, “Alors, c’est la guerre!” (Then it is war!)
In response to Metaxas's refusal, Italian troops stationed in Albania, then an Italian protectorate, attacked the Greek border at 05:30 am – the beginning of Greece's participation in World War II (see Greco-Italian War and the Battle of Greece).
On the morning of 28 October, the Greek population took to the streets, irrespective of political affiliation, shouting 'ohi'. From 1942, it was celebrated as Ohi Day, first mostly among the members of the resistance and after the war by all the Greeks.

I held off as long as I could to post this one as I was hoping to be able to squeeze one last Irish house Stalis farewell, but sadly that's not to be 😔
Anyway, as I look back on another eventful, crazy, funny and occasionally strange music and fun filled seventh year in Stalis I can look back and smile and be thankful for the opportunity to come back and entertain the fantastic people in my own unique crazy way 😉😜😂👍🏻
I have to give a big shout-out to each and everyone who's came to see me, those brave ladies and gentlemen who volunteered to be a part of the evening, those who foot tapped, hand clapped, finger clicked , table banged through the show and those who just sat and listened and enjoyed the evening.
Again I got to catch up with old friends (You know you are 😉) especially those who brought me gifts 😉👍🏻,those who heckled , those who had the p**s ripped out of them by me and gave it back😉 and to those new friends I've made this season ( the JBV experience virgins) who now get what i do and why I do it , and never judged a book by it's cover or reading other people's opinions 😉👍🏻👏👏👏 and I humbly thank you all for your continued support and friendship and especially for your participation in the JBV experience 😉 🙏💚🇬🇷
No final farewell message would be complete without a massive massive heartfelt thank you to all at the best beach bar in Stalis and the hard working team that drives the engine, both daytime and nighttime staff ... George's Angels 💚💚💚 so, thank you for everything you've done for me throughout summer 2024 as coworkers and as friends and also as your Godfather who christened you 😉 so much love and respect to Jan Sereinig Sophie Angel Sheill and my amazing partner in mischief and madness and she who ensures I abide by " The Law" 😉 DJ Madhead Holly Noble 💚💚💚 as a team we've had some great nights, we've had some strange, crazy , bizzare and mad , busy and fairly quiet ones, but we've laughed through them all and kept going as the customers happiness and entertainment was always a priority 😉👍🏻👏👏👏👏👏👏.. Someone asked me just before season ended in Gouves this year if I did any Paolo.. I said no , not really but I'd dabbled with a couple of his over the years ... I love this tune, this is an upbeat version ... Weirdly enough, it's a bit back to front as the finished version with mic is first and the raw version without mic etc and my first attempt is after it 😂🇬🇷🎤

What can I say as another season has ended at the brilliant Central Bar Gouves apart from what a fantastic 2nd season I had ( despite me not being able to do a farewell to summer 2024 due to illness and I actually feel really bad about that🥹)
Anyway, I got to catch up with great friends I made at the start of my Gouves adventure ( you know who you are 😉) and hopefully strengthened that bond, and I got to make some new ones this season who bought into the who JBV experience and enjoyed their evening of music and fun antics with me ... Especially the hecklers..old and new.. you definitely know who you are 😉 🤣 😉🙏💚🇬🇷.. and I humbly thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the welcome, the craic and the p**s taking and just enjoying yourself at my nights...I've loved every minute of it 💚🇬🇷🎤
I have to say a special thank you to the boss... Kristo Menga and Nici Mar for asking me back for a second season to do what I do and for that I'm eternally grateful and humbled by their loyalty and support given to me over the two seasons and also for their friendship that extends beyond the workplace and that loyalty and support will always be repaid and the friendship reciprocated ( yes I've been asked back for round 3 in 2025 😉)🙏🇬🇷
A massive shout out to The Spice boys Αλσεγκι Μπρχν and my missing breakfast partner Kladji 😉🤣 for everything they've done and for the craic( in English and Greek) 😉🤣🤣.. top lads and hard working as well and finally to my good friend The Barfly 👍🏻 who has been a rock and became probably my biggest fsn in Gouves 😱😱😉 without his help and traffic duties some of what I do wouldn't have been possible...well it would, but he makes it easier cause he's a top guy and that's what friends do 😉👏👏👏

Firstly I like to thank all the amazing Drakonaki family Maria Drakonaki , Litsa, Mama, Big Manos, little Manos and Paul at the Alexandros Hotel Sissi for another cracking season. You've been not only my employer for over ten years (as I've been there in one form or another) , but you've also been my good friends for a lot longer... And that's a bond that's hard to break 💚🇬🇷 and I humbly thank you for your friendship and especially for asking me back this season ,for another solo season ( #7 on my own 😉) to entertain, confuse, amuse , occasionally abuse , frustrate, educate and enjoy the company and the craic with the wonderful people who visit the best family run hotel in Sissi .
It's been a long hard season for all and as a team we've had some great nights ,some quiet nights, some weird nights and some mega loud crazy nights 😂 😂 but as we say "it is what it is".
Here's hoping I'm asked back for solo season #8 😉👍🏻🙏🇬🇷🎤.. I wish you all the best and may the winter be a peaceful , restful, beautiful and healthy one for all the family. I'll see you soon for coffee 😉👍🏻... Paul's still paying tho😂🤣
Secondly..I'd like to thank all the amazing guests who've come to see me this summer 2024 , those who've taken part in the quizzes, the PYCR games nights and especially those who came and joined in the hand clapping, foot tapping, table banging, finger clicking hands in the air like you just don't care music and fun antics 😉... Remember ,the pleasure has and will always be mine to have met and entertained each and every one of you, to my old friends who've returned ( gluttons for punishment) 😉🤣🤣and to the new ones I've made on this season's journey... JBV update...🇬🇷🎤
Massive thank you to everyone who left a heartfelt / insult / sarcastic / funny comment under my last update, I've read them all 😉👍🏻🇬🇷🎤
So, I'm currently under my medical practitioner's orders ( basically do as you're told Jim or you won't get better asap) which involves high dosage of nuclear strength antibiotics (again) to help my painful breathing issues and my strange liver function and high anti inflammatory blood markers, I've to take lots of fluids (no alcohol for ten days minimum), Depon and bizarrely enough I've an Insanely weird amount of tiredness that creeps in , that involves being in bed by 8.00pm 💤😴 every night and all under the watchful eye of my in-house nurse/ carer ... Ooh and Molly the cat 😻😉
I will do as I always do and thank the venues ( those I can) in individual posts just shortly but for now I'd like to thank those who called me personally (you know who you are.. those who didn't, it's duly noted 😉😂😂) and offered me more than just moral support ... it won't be forgotten moving forward 👍🏻🙏💚😉
For now I need to concentrate on beating this horrible bugs bastard arse Into submission ( Tbh, even the doctors are baffled by it) and getting back into fighting fit mode to enjoy the winter and the downtime, and start work on next season's sets, and strangely enough that involves doing as I'm told 😱😭😢😂😂... So for the avoidance of doubt ( much too the annoyance of a few) I haven't gone away... For those who are Interested , I'll update you as soon as I can as to my progress... If you don't hear from me by tomorrow evening at the latest , send a search party, and an ambulance 🚑 or alternatively send me a keg of Guinness attached to an IV drip😉👍🏻😂😂🇬🇷🎤..until then , do as the penguins of Madagascar do 🐧🐧🐧🐧😁👋😁👋

Sadly tonight there won't be any music and fun antics at the Irish house Stalis
As you may well know I've been pushing through the barriers in order to deliver my usual fill on nights , but it appears the headaches
and fever bouts as well as the dizziness have taken their toll on my old body 😔
After consultation with the venue and explained my current situation , it was deemed best to cancel.
At the moment I'm struggling to breathe properly and I'm in pain when I do, so singing is definitely out the window until I get to the bottom of the issue which is ashame as my upper register has just come back from holiday 😭😞🤣. Hopefully it's nothing too serious🙏👍🏻 and if given the all clear I'll be back live and loud asap.
I'll keep you updated when I can ... Meanwhile..more tests incoming 🙏😱😱😉🤣🇬🇷🎤
