“There was a whole lotta fun and a whole lot to celebrate at the 2024 Best Fest Celebration of the Best of Santa Barbara® party at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum last week! Not only could all of the winners rejoice in their victories, but our team had a well-earned celebration after “unleashing the beast” of a 164-page print issue — our largest edition in years!

From old friends to new ones, the sold-out event had several hundred of Santa Barbara’s finest folks enjoying sips and bites from many of the winning restaurants, wineries, and breweries featured in our Best of Santa Barbara® issue — all to the rocking beats of DJ Darla Bea, the nine-time winner of the Best Event DJ bragging rights!”

Big shoutout to who has been commissioned to create a one-of-a-kind visual land acknowledgement for this weekend’s events!

Solange Aguilar (They/Ze) is a q***r Mescalero Apache, Yo’eme, and Filipinx (Kalinga/Kapampangan) multimedia artist, poet, and zinemaker currently living in Qenepstin, Chumash Territory (Santa Barbara, CA). They are a first place winner in the Santa Barbara Poetry Slam, a recipient of The Pachamama Skillshare and Women’s Creative Collective for Change artist scholarship, and a 2021 fellow from the Artist2Artist program by the Art Matters Foundation. Their work has been featured in News from Native California, Earth First! Journal, at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara City College’s West Campus, and in Harvard Library’s zine collection.

🎤 Terrill Carter (she/her) – A rising R&B singer/songwriter from Baton Rouge, whose debut album is making waves. Her soulful performance is not to be missed!
🎺 The Brasscals! – Santa Barbara’s only street brass band, known for their infectious energy and genre-bending performances. A multigenerational mix that brings the fun!
🎧 DJ Suz (she/her/ella) – A local DJ, community leader, and co-owner of Mirame Entertainment, creating inclusive spaces that celebrate diversity. She’s also the President of HOPE, supporting the LGBTQ+ community in Santa Maria.

This is a FREE EVENT, open to the public, where we encourage EVERYONE to dress in their finest PIRATE inspired garb* and meet us in fair Downtown Santa Barbara for an unofficial “Walk Like a Pirate” Parade, starting on State Street at Paseo Nuevo, and ending at the Institution Ale Beer Garden. ☠️ 🔱🗡️🗺️🪝⛵️🍻
