Save the date for WYP’s 25th Anniversary Community Celebration: Saturday, October 5 at SBCC’s Great Meadow 🎉This all-ages festival will be open to the public and bring together over 300 community partners and supporters to celebrate 25 years of WYP. Ticket information for attendees will be available later this summer.⁠

🏴‍☠️ Free Community Event on the Horizon 🌅 🏴‍☠️

Join the crews of the , , and , as they celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day, in true pirate fashion... A few days late and a few dollars short. This is a FREE EVENT, open to the public, where we encourage EVERYONE to dress in their finest PIRATE inspired garb* and meet us in fair Downtown Santa Barbara for an unofficial “Walk Like a Pirate” Parade, starting on State Street at Paseo Nuevo, and ending at the Institution Ale Beer Garden.
Come hang out with a few very fun and friendly local Non-Profits, and hear about some of their exciting upcoming events and projects.

* (Thrift store clothes, and liberal use of scissors make for excellent pirate inspired clothes.)

We are delighted to announce that we have set a new date for the Michael Towbes Library Plaza Opening Festival and cordially invite you to join us for a ribbon-cutting ceremony - PLAZA PALOOZA! 🎉🎈

The Michael Towbes Library Plaza will officially open with a celebration on November 3rd from 12-4pm. While the fences will be coming down as soon as the Santa Barbara Public Library can prepare the space, we are taking this opportunity to plan a memorable opening event that celebrates this grand community achievement.🌟

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your continuous support of the Michael Towbes Library Plaza. Thanks to donors like you, we are able to create a vibrant and welcoming community space.❤

Santa Barbara Empty Bowls is this weekend! Grateful to Danyel Dean for this Santa Barbara Independent shoutout and all the supporters who make it happen ✨💕

“This project is an astounding amount of work,” admits Dean, who did our interview on the phone as she was finishing up deliveries of succulents to go in some of the ceramic pots that will be sold as part of the marketplace component of the event. “But one of the things that I’m grateful for is that the Foodbank has hired a really remarkable event planner, Elly Iverson, and she has been working with me and our Empty Bowls committee for four years now.”

In the beginning, it was a primarily volunteer effort and now that Iverson is on board, Dean says, “it’s not making me as crazy. She is creating Empty Bowls and condensing it in a way that it will be sustainable past the women that are on the committee and myself.”

Will you join us as we come together to celebrate three decades of Bread & Roses? We are excited to be returning to Elings Park to recognize the work of The FUND and celebrate the spirit of the Central Coast’s progressive community. The Event will be hosted by the powerhouse duo of Reverend Julia Hamilton and Eric Cardenas, our two most recent Board Presidents. Everyone in attendance is in for a real treat with a musical show by The Vivian Storm Experience.

In accordance with our values Spanish and ASL interpretation will be available. In wanting to ensure that cost is not prohibitive to anyone wanting to attend, sliding scale tickets are available. To inquire, please reach out to [email protected]
