One year ago today, I coordinated my last wedding – and what a beautiful wedding it was. The bride, her mother, and I had a fantastic time incorporating a myriad of elegant and classic details that would pamper their guests with a seafood bar, an exquisite wine-paired menu, and a world-class band who kept the guests dancing all night.
Thinking back on this, and the hundreds of weddings I planned over the years, I consider myself blessed beyond belief, and grateful for the families I have met along the way. My hope is that our paths will cross in new and enriching ways. Here’s to the new version of Avec Joie de Vivre!

This was my second-to-last wedding and I had the opportunity to work very closely with the bride & groom and their families. This post-ceremony image of Rebecca and Jordan conveys so many emotions and above all, their passion, love, and excitement. In fact, I think it expresses way more than a thousand words! I also love the fun, teamwork, surprises (and fear?) caught in this image of the chair-lifting! This is what it is all about!

Over the years, I have seen a lot of different styles and colors, but a classic black-tie wedding with white flowers and candlelight never disappoints. Even the flowers on the head table are appropriately attired with the beautiful black and white anenomes. Pure elegance!

Who can resist love? When we go to a wedding, we want to witness first-hand the iconic moments of a wedding – the kiss, the vows, and the ceremony itself. You can feel the emotions of this image as the newlyweds walked down the aisle – a spontaneous kiss and Michael’s hand reaching out to the hand of a close friend. I particularly loved the elegance and intimacy of this ceremony as the wedding party and guests literally encircled the bride and groom.

This wedding was close to my heart – the couple had a special connection to the Santa Ynez wine region and chose to offer their guests a glimpse into their favorite wines by highlighting them not only at the rehearsal and wedding meals, but also by offering a tasting station during the cocktail reception. What better sparkling wine to choose but Fess Parker’s “FESStivity”? I especially loved the wine map and menu beautifully created by . The cake topper with the cowboy hat was a fun surprise for the groom. And I had to throw in a BTS photo of doing a last-minute touch up to the beautiful gown a few minutes before the ceremony.

Looking back at over 30 years of wedding planning, it is the magical in-between moments that pique my interest - the laughter, connections, and all of the beautiful emotions caught in a split second. I also love the personal touches like, "Kay's Coffee Bar" for the bride who is a barista - and hiring the CVT Soft Serve Truck for a family who loves (and has a history with) ice cream! And then, of course, there is the design & beauty of it all too. Here's to looking back on a very special wedding from last year.

My colleague, Lauren, and I enjoyed meeting Stephen Hagen, the owner/winemaker of Antiquum Farm at The Wine House a couple of weeks ago. Fascinating to learn about all of the livestock on their farm and how they use regenerative farming to produce delicious wines with no intervention. Thank you, Lauren for the great video!

Did you know that today is National Grenache Day?

In honor of this special day, Chris Kern's Forgotten Grapes, and Allison with Please The Palate, hosted Casey Graybehl of The.Grenachista Wine Company for a Virtual Winetasting last week. Some of my wine friends weren't able to join the call, so we gathered Wednesday to watch the recording and taste Casey's fantastic wines!

I created a spread of Grenache-friendly foods, and we had a great time learning more about this varietal, Casey's journey as "The Grenachista", and catching up with each other.

Sydney Paige Foundation Color of Impact Event 2024

In a separate post, I shared photos of this year's event. What the photos didn't show are the people behind the event - those who made it such an impactful evening, those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, the volunteers who help throughout the year, and the guests who applauded and supported Sydney Paige that evening.

The sum of their efforts - big and small are what makes the Sydney Paige Foundation such a successful & important organization, AND made the event so lucrative and FUN this year!

Color of Impact Event Event 2024

And it's a wrap! Guests had a fantastic time and we exceeded our goals with fundraising! I'm so proud to be able to help Courtney Sessler Brockmeyer and her Sydney Paige Foundation on this event every year.
I am always astounded by how much work the Sydney Paige Foundation does throughout the year to bring high-quality backpacks and necessary school supplies to kids in underserved communities.
And I am in awe of Courtney's creativity, eye for color, and attention to detail as is evidenced in these images of the event last Friday at The Garden in Walnut Creek. She is not only the inspiration for all of the decor - she created the floral walls and the sponsor wall.
