Bienvenue as Avec Joie de Vivre transitions into boutique experiential events bringing people together through fun, wine, food, & travel!
Thank you Lou Lou Vo with VEA Newport Beach Resort and Spa , and Rachel Bird with Visit Newport Beach for a fantastic Site Visit at the gorgeous VEA NB Marriott - and for the delicious apps & drinks! Hoping we will be planning a Fabulous Group Getaway soon!
I really enjoyed having lunch with Catherine Addé yesterday ... planning and plotting some wine & culinary trips in the future. Who's interested?
(Nothing in the books for at least a year, but stay tuned!)
Leave it to CalSAE (Cal Society of Assoc. Execs.) to plan a 4-day conference FULL of fantastic speakers, education, inspiration, and FUN. Kyle Scheele, the opening Keynote speaker reminded us that we are all creative - and can become even more creative by sharing his outlandish stories of his successes (and failures & tribulations) along the way. Learning through laugh-out-loud humor is always the best way to learn (IMHO)
Last post to thank the MPI Southern California Chapter, the Renaissance Newport Beach Hotel, Visit Newport Beach, the WeCon Committee, the speakers, and the sponsors who donated their talent, products, and/or financial support to make this 2 1/2 day event as fantastic as it was!
The last day definitely did not disappoint! 2 fantastic General Session speakers - Julius Solaris who summarized and inspired us on the future of tech in the hospitality industry, and Courtney Lohmann who inspired us to lead with impact.
We were offered 2 options for "post conference" - a Pedego bike tour or a Moke tour of Newport Beach. The Moke tour on the NB Peninsula, the ferry, Balboa Island, and ending at Newport Dunes was such a fun throw-back to my days at UCI!
A HUGE Thank You to Hollywood Park and YouTube Theater for the fantastic reception last week! So much fun to meet "Rampage", tour the beautiful venue, and taste the libations and delicacies you prepared for us! And thank you to the many sponsors who added so much to the evening's festivities!
Thank you, Hotel Bel-Air for the lovely cocktail party this week. such a fun evening on the magical Hotel Bel-Air property with old friends and new. Kudos to Typewriters Anonymous for the fun "improv" poems!
Best advice ever!
Cheers to a fun and interesting wine experience at WifeandtheSomm on Sunday - Old World vs. New World wines - 3 flights of Old World vs. California New World Wines - I love some of each!
A HUGE Thank You to Fete, Universal Studios, and all of the amazing partners who put on this fantastic event Wednesday! Great to see so many friends and colleagues - especially the ones I have been lucky to know since the beginning of my career!
It was such an honor to plan and coordinate the decor and photo booth for this event and for this amazing organization!
Take a quick moment to share in the joy and the impact we are making thanks to the massive hearts and hard work of our donors, partners, volunteers and incre...

Here’s to our 2021 couples who have waited so long to say their vows! We are excited that we can offer charcuterie, chocolate covered strawberries, and sparkling wine to our couples who are ready for a little ceremony at an epic venue. Take a look at our new Minimonies option on our website:

Did I hear this correctly? Best news in a very, very long time!
Full Circle inspiration! I saw this picnic inspiration image in the March/April 2021 issue of Pasadena Magazine. In 1997 we did a wedding at a home in the Palisades using moss as the table "cloths". The inimitable caterer, Don Ernstein, came up with this idea after he read an article in Sunset magazine. We used dried hydrangea topiaries for the centerpieces and we were the first ones to use (then) Classic Party Rentals distrissed wood chairs. Rrivre Davies created a faux "cake" with moss so we could display cookies, brownies, & cupcakes.
So happy to see this - it's a good start for our special events industry!
Official snapshot of the tier capacities from CDPH for private gatherings.
Actual operating guidelines are not yet released, but this will be published in the coming weeks. The good news is, we can get back to work and do what we love starting April 15th, 2021! It still isn’t quite the way we used to do things, but this is a bridge or pathway to getting back to normal. Stepping stones friends. Happy Friday Everyone!

Well here is some encouraging news! Looking forward to getting events back slowly, but surely - and safely!
Indoor live events and performances can resume in California this month with limitations amid declining COVID-19 rates and continuing vaccinations.
We are flattered that California Association for Private Events used so much of our video for their presentation to the California Legislature.
There is so much at stake - I hope we can start opening our events industry soon - we just need to be recognized as a vital industry and given guidelines so we can help people marry, celebrate milestones, and celebrate loved ones - safely.
We are loving this gorgeous weather as we scout locations for a couple who will be tying the knot next week. Isn't this going to be a beautiful spot for an elopement?!
