***MATCH ANNOUNCEMENT***
Matty Short vs. TE KAHA

One of the country's most beloved wrestlers, Matty Short has danced his way up and down New Zealand, winning fans and matches everywhere he goes. A two-time holder of the Impact Pro Wrestling Aotearoa New Zealand Tag Team championships with Short Tempered tag partner Liger, Matty has proven time and time again that underestimating him is a huge mistake. Spending the early part of his Heathen Combat career as a thorn in the side of Cam Owens, Short quickly picked up wins over the likes of El Besto, Lily Fae and William Cutting, while also having impressive runs in the Anniversary Rumble, Golden Mile Gauntlet and the Hand Of Fate Scramble match. Making the finals of the Guardian Of The Realm tournament, Short was eventually pinned by Sir Mr. Burns KNZM, but bounced back the following night with a win over Frankie Quinn.

Formerly known as Hybrid and one half of Maniacs United's most feared tag teams, the Taniwha Atrocities, with former partner Charybdis, Te Kaha spent the early part of his career carving a path through anyone put in front of him. Undefeated when they won the New Zealand Professional Wrestling Tag Team championships, the Taniwhas would run rampant over the tag division before losing the titles to Nu Blood would lead to their brutal split. Setting his sights on the Jackson Shield, Te Kaha would win the Shield in decisive fashion, holding the title for nearly, before a Jackson Graves led F.E.A.R. would lead to him dropping the title. His revenge against the faction was short-lived, as Graves' injury would force him to vacate the Shield, leading to Te Kaha winning it a second time at Maniacs final show. While not making it past the first round of the Guardian Of The Realm tournament, Te Kaha instead left Morrinsville with another prize - Reconciliation with Charybdis, leaving the gates to a possible Taniwha reunion.

Two fan favourites face off in a clash of sizes, but who enters 2025 with their first win?

***MATCH ANNOUNCEMENT***
Zac Hayle vs. Tommy Fusion (c)
Hand Of Fate championship match

As a member of Nu Blood, Zac Hayle is known primarily as a tag team wrestler, where he and partner Kid Nova have held championships in Maniacs United and Impact Pro Wrestling. However, also like Nova, Hayle has spent most of his time in Heathen Combat as a singles wrestler. Challenging for an array of titles from across the country against the likes of JT Hollow, Rugged Vic Craig, Raymond Gunn and Grace Lightning, Hayle also holds a rare singles victory over Bryant. A master of multi-man matches, the Kiwi Punk made the finals of the Guardian Of The Realm tournament, as well as winning a match to become number one contender to the Hand Of Fate. Perhaps the highlight of his career in Heathen Combat, Hayle answered Nova's open challenge for a shot One Above All World champion, a match that won Match Of The Year, and many consider one of the best matches in Heathen Combat.

Tommy Fusion stunned everyone when he defeated ACJ for the Hand Of Fate in his second ever Heathen Combat match, soon after winning the Action Packed Wrestling championship. After a brutal feud against Rugged Vic Craig, the Skyrocker soon set his eyes on the Maniacs United New Zealand Professional Wrestling championship, then held by Phoenix Tallion, finally claiming the title on the final Maniacs event, closing out the promotion as its final champion. Tallion would in turn challenge Fusion for the Hand Of Fate in his final NZ match, coming up short but cementing Fusion as champ. Forming The Big Adventure with best friend, JT Hollow, the pair had their eyes set on tag team gold, before a powerbomb from James Shaw gave Fusion a serious concussion, putting him on the shelf for several months. Announcing his surprise return, Fusion now looks to the future as the holder of the Axe, waiting for his moment to cash it in.

A match originally scheduled for 2023 before our hiatus, two of New Zealand's best finally meet with the Hand Of Fate on the line!

***MATCH ANNOUNCEMENT***
Xander Taylor vs. Joseph Kruz

Winner of 2024's Best Debut, Xander Taylor has become a fixture of Heathen Combat since our return event. Arriving first to face off against rival, JT Hollow, the Limit Breaker then had an impressive showing in the Dougfest Rumble, including a squaring off against Tyler Ernst that had the crowd on their feet. Frustrated that he was left out of the Guardian Of The Realm tournament, Tayler demanded a match from owner Michael Greene, which resulted in him facing off against Greene's new enforcer, JayRilla. Xander ended the year with his biggest moment yet, when he stunned fans by pinning former One Above All World champion Ryan Zero, a win that earned him the seal of approval from the Rose Coloured Boy, as well as the fans themselves. With a victory over a former champion, Taylor enters 2025 with a chip on his shoulder and a huge increase in momentum.

Making his debut against Spartan on the final Maniacs United show, Joseph Kruz has gone from strength to strength in his short career, and doesn't look to be slowing down any time soon. Facing off against the likes of James Shaw, Zac Hayle and JT Hollow, Kruz was granted a title shot against Hughes Academy of Professional Wrestling champion Dorian Webber, and while he failed to win the championship, he showed that he was definitely one to watch. Debuting in Heathen Combat as part of the Guardian Of The Realm tournament, Kruz came up short to Zac Hayle alongside Pariah, but won over the Morrinsville fans in the process. Two weeks later, Kruz would score a career changing win over veteran Liger at Impact Pro Wrestling's Nightmare Before Christmas, earning himself an IPW contract in the process, proving thr future is bright for the young man.

Two extremely promising young wrestlers face off for the first time, but who will start off their year with a victory?

***ANNOUNCEMENT***
An Evening With Perfect Peter Parr

One of the best new wrestlers in the New Zealand scene, Perfect Peter Parr has been making waves across Auckland, so it was only a matter of time before he made his way to Heathen Combat. No one expected, however, that his debut would be as the replacement tag team partner for Horus, filling in for Phoenix Tallion after he moved to the UK.

The stage was set for an impressive debut for the Perfect one, facing off against the equally unlikely team of ACJ and Barry Burrito, but ego would get in the way. With the encouragement of Jack Maximum at ringside, Parr would tag himself in as often as possible, much to the frustration of the Duke Of Death. Enough was finally enough, and the two argued, leaving Parr open to be rolled up and pinned, ending both he and Horus' chances of becoming the first Brothers In Arms champions. Horus, done with the partnership, brutally beat Parr with a kendo stick, leaving him a bruised mess at ringside.

Reaching out to Heathen Combat management, Parr has asked to address the fans, who he feels didn't get a chance to truly see Perfection in action. But what else does Parr want? Does he have his eyes set on any championships in Heathen Combat? And who should watch their back, else they fall prey to Peter's small package?

***MATCH ANNOUNCEMENT***
Sir Mr. Burns KNZM (c) & Tyler Ernst vs. TBA
Guardian Of The Realm open challenge
Two-on-one handicap match

When it comes to Sir Mr. Burns and the Young Nats, the numbers are very often in their favour. When Heathen Combat returned to Hamilton, Burns and Minister for Black Ops, Tyler Ernst, worked together during the Dougfest Rumble to eliminate many other entrants of the match, giving fans a taste of how dangerous the faction can be, and reminding many of the events that previously led to Burns becoming One Above All champion.

During the Guardian Of The Realm tournament in Morrinsville at last year's "When Good Dogs Do Bad Things," the group's crafty planning was on full display yet again. During the qualifying triple threat match, it was revealed The Scene A.J. Murtagh hadn't made it to the venue, with Burns heavily implying the involvement of Ernst in the situation. After a mid-match injury to Jackson Graves ended the now-one on one match, Burns showed little care for his injured opponent, focusing on the main event for the title against fellow qualifiers, Zac Hayle and Matty Short. With the match looking it could go any way, Burns once again proved to be the master planner he's known for, stealing a pin on Short following a frog splash from Hayle to become the inaugural champion.

Expected to show the following night in Hamilton for "heavydirtysouls," Burns and Ernst instead announced via video that they were in Wellington partying up with the Prime Minister, and that their stipulation for title defences during Burns' reign would be two-on-one handicap matches, once more proving the numbers are always in their favour.

Who will step up to face the Nats in Burns' first defence of the Guardian Of The Realm?

Your Heathen Combat Best Wrestler of the Year for 2024...

Kid Nova

2024 was the year that the Starkiller silenced those who believed his win over then-One Above All World champion 'The Smash Hit' Joel Bateman to become the number one contender was a fluke. Nova has proven to be the one to beat in Heathen Combat, following his win for the title he has waited nearly 2 years to challenge for. Facing off against the man he narrowly beat for this award, Ryan Zero, Nova finally won the gold that he'd been waiting for. Making it clear he intended to prove himself as champion and push himself to his limits against anyone who wants a shot at the belt, Nova put the title in the line against best friend and Nu Blood teammate Zac Hayle, third place winner for this award, in a match that is being hailed as one of the best Heathen Combat matches ever. With a long line of potential challengers eyeing up a shot at the biggest prize in Heathens, 2025 looks to be a busy one for the champion. Kid Nova, however, having swept through the 2024 awards and won everything he was eligible for, looks to be the man navigating the ship for quite some time yet, and with the support of the fans behind him, we're looking forward to seeing what he does next.

Your Heathen Combat Best Match of the Year for 2024...

Zac Hayle vs. Kid Nova
One Above All World championship match
"heavydirtysouls"

Proving that no one fights harder than friends, the battle for the One Above All World championship between the two members of Nu Blood was one for the ages. Having won the vacant title in a match against Ryan Zero, Kid Nova announced he was out to prove himself as a fighting champion and truly prove himself as the top of the food chain in Heathen Combat. Putting out an open challenge in lieu of a number one contender, few expected Hayle to answer the call, but those who had seen the previous times the friends have faced off knew we were in for something special. Pushing one another to the next level, the rubber match in this friendly rivalry, this time with the highest stakes yet, saw both men bring out their A-game, fighting in and out of the ring, holding nothing back and having the audience at Zeal on the edge of their seats. An insane superkick by Nova on a mid-moonsault Hayle proved to be the decisive moment, leading to the Starkiller getting the three count, retaining the title, and proving himself the one to beat in Heathen Combat. As the two friends embraced after the match, the crowd and the roster both gave the pair their much deserved applause, having just seen a match that many consider the best in the history of Heathen Combat!

Your Heathen Combat Best Debut of the Year for 2024...

Limit Breaker - Xander Taylor

Arriving in Heathen Combat to face off against JT Hollow to continue their feud that started in Hughes Academy of Professional Wrestling, Taylor would fail to defeat the Voidheart, plus draw the ire of future foe, and the man he narrowly beat for this award, JayRilla. Making a huge impact as part of the Dougfest Rumble, the Limit Breaker squared off against Tyler Ernst mid-match in a face-off that had fans screaming along with the pair's back and forth blows. Frustrated with his lack of match at "When Good Dogs Do Bad Things," Taylor confronted owner Michael Greene and ended up facing off against his new bodyguard, JayRilla, putting up a valiant fight but falling to the Great Ape. Taylor ended the year on a high, pinning former One Above All World champion Ryan Zero, earning the respect of the Rose Coloured Boy and making himself one to watch in 2025. With his rookie year coming to a close, the future looks bright for Xander Taylor!

Your Heathen Combat Moment of the Year for 2024...

Kid Nova becomes One Above All World champion!

After pinning then-champion Joel Bateman back at 2022's "Mat Earth Society: Trouble In Paradiso" to become number one contender, Nova finally got his match nearly two years later at our long awaited Hamilton return, "Our Lawyers Made Us Change The Name Of The Show." Originally scheduled to face champ Rugged Vic Craig, an injury led to the belt being stripped from the Deathmatch Reaper. With a change made to the stakes of the Dougfest Rumble, the Starkiller faced winner Ryan Zero for the vacant title in a match that involved the entire locker room, before hitting a huge top rope stomp onto the Rose Coloured Boy, getting the pin, and finally claiming his place at the top of Heathen Combat!
